This topic will be a guide to the new types of save editing mentioned in rule 3.4, this topic will be added to over time as needed.

Custom trailer paint job:

Spoiler

This download features the custom files used for a custom trailer paint job, this can then be used in TruckersMP and the paint job itself can be changed to look as you wish.

Download link:

Google Drive Link

Installation instructions:

1- Extract the "forerunner_mods" folder to you "documents/euro truck simulator 2" folder - (folder name soon to be changed)

To use the trailer paint job in-game:

1- Get a trailer in-game and save you game

2- Decrypt your save as in usual save-editing and open the file in a text editor (instructions can be found on the forums for this)

3- Search for "assigned_trailer", this will bring you to a line similar to " assigned_trailer: _nameless."

4- From that line copy everything after the ":".

5- Search for what you just copied until you find a line that says "trailer : <what-you-copied>"

6- Scroll down slowly until you find a "data_path" value that included the phrase "company_paint_job"

7- Replace this "data_path" with "/home/forerunner_mods/skin.sii"

8 (optional)-  Change the "base_color" value above this "data_path" to change the colour that other people will see, this is an RGB value in which each number must be between 0 and 1.

6 & 7 must be done twice for double trailers, and 3 times for triples.

To change the trailer skin:

1- Create or download a trailer repaint, any repaints that work on base-game trailers can work here, tutorials for this can be found online and here on the forums.

2- Replace “documents/euro truck simulator 2/forerunner_mods/skin.dds” with your skin’s .dds file.

Custom trailer "shell":

Spoiler

Chassis accessories, including trailers, cannot be custom made; therefore if you want a custom looking trailer you need to find another way to do it.The best way is to make a trailer "shell" which can fit over any default in-game trailer to make it appear different. You MUST NOT make a new trailer chassis accessory, this will result in position de-sync or a crash for other players, and are already disallowed by rule 3.4.

No examples or kits are available for download at this time however the examples below are shown to communicate the concept.

Examples:

"Platform" trailer double (Based on the standard curtain-side double):

@LordBenji No, i haven't missed a step. You have tried to do something additional that is not necessary. Follow the tutorial strictly with the tutorial files and it will work. Your *.tobj is broken as you changed the length of the path but did not change the path length byte. The byte you highlighted is the length byte, its is a single byte in hex. 0x18 would fix it.
