HELP High ping ETS2MP

Hyvak

Question

Dear fellow members and mods, been wondering why am I having high ping in ets2 truckersmp?

Tried connecting to europe servers, and get average 92-100 ms. As I did speedtest and set the server location to France, I get 71/75 ms?

Please help!

Thanks in advance

EDIT:

The most thing I'm confused of, around 4 months or so, I used to get stable 82/84 ms, and never received high dosage amount of choke, lag and ping?

That time I used to get ADSL, now moved to fiber optic and connected to an ethernet, and I just received a big amount of ping from 82 to 95 to 100 or sometimes 300 ms, which isnt stable at all, I've tried updating my drivers, used WTFast, tried tweaking my settings, disabled my auto update in windows 10, any help would've be really a big help for me, thanks in advanced..

Dear @Karim Joseph Eid

1.Open up your Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del on keyboard and see if there are some updating services running in the background processes
2. Disable any unwanted programs you dont want running and hogging internet
3.check your internet speed from here http://www.speedtest.net/

Dear @Karim Joseph Eid, please keep in mind that not all of our servers are located in the same country. I would suggest that you simply try to connect to different servers and check if that improves your ping. Since the ping may vary significantly depending on which country you are coming from, it could easily be the case that you won't really get any better average pings than the ~100ms you got right now if you are living outside of Europe.

This is the thing, I do live outside of the Europe, but the recent time, I used to get average 80/82 ms, and that time I used to get the ADSL type of internet, now I moved to wired fiber optic network, and used ethernet and now I get average of 92/100 or sometimes 200 ms, how? And how would I connect to different servers

Hello,

It seems to be your own connection, as you said you use to have 82 ms before and now its over 90-100, the ping could not be stable in every places so can variate from a day to another. Also I checked by myself and the speedtest are not taken in account because when you ping in a speedtest the ping goes to I don't know where, but when you ping in TMP the ping goes to the server you are connected to, so if the server is far from you, you'll get more ping than when doing speedtest. In my own experience, I use to have between 65-70 ms in TMP, and my speedtest says 45-50

I didn't even move places, same places as I used to be before. Cant be my connection, I tested both my ping in both speed test and meter ping test, changed them to France, as the result in speed test, I get about 78 ms average, in meter ping test about sometimes 82, as no one connected, average of 70 ms in meter ping test.. so cant be my connection, also I upgraded my internet connection from ADSL to Fiber Connection, which is way faster and less interruption in ping, choke and lag, as ADSL goes through the athena and scatters the signal of itself, as the fiber connection is straight wired to the cabinet so it cant be my connection mate, anyways.. thanks for the help, looking for someone else as best as they could for this to be fixed.

Try all of these

1. Do a dns flush, Clicky here on how to do that

2. Clear your PC's temp files with Clean Master for PC

3. Open up your Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del on keyboard and see if there are some updating services running in the background processes , Example: Adobe IPC Broker service,or any form of updater service which updates softwares you use in the background. If you dont know if there are any running provide a screenshot and i will guide you furthur on.)

4. Do a Disk Cleanup of C: drive Clicky here on how to do that  , P.S The top right corner where it says Windows 8.1/Windows RT 8.1 , Click drop down arrow and select your version of windows 7/8/10)

5. Disable any unwanted programs you dont want running and hogging internet. Clicky here on how to do that.  .

Id bet on my listed methods to have a ping reduction by a few ms.

If all else fails make a support ticket.

Hi,

Have you try to use game VPN ?

No, why would I use VPN?

Also, VPN wouldn't solve it, it'll make it way worst

Tried that, but didnt solve it mate, thanks for the help :)

I'll still look for further informations on how to fix this since it's annoying af, if none could answer and fix it, I'll try contact them.

Hello :)

You should restart your internet or modern. You can also check your internet here: http://www.speedtest.net/fr

You can find the necessary information by reviewing the guide below.

  • Upgrade your connection speed through your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Often ISP's will offer several different connection speeds for different prices. A higher connection speed will allow you to send and receive data faster and lower your ping. You can also switch to a different ISP that offers higher speeds.
  • Use a free online bandwidth testing tool such as BandwidthPlace to ensure you are receiving the speed promised by your ISP. If you are not receiving the advertised speed, let your ISP know and they will attempt to optimize your internet speed.
  • .Use a wired internet connection instead of a wireless connection or router. A fixed line connection allows for a more stable flow of data and will lead to lower ping and smoother game play. Additionally, a wired connection avoids the possibility of other computers simultaneously using the internet and using up bandwidth.
  • Disable any firewalls, such as ZoneAlarm, Norton, and McAfee. Although this step may expose your computer to temporary risks, many firewalls substantially slow down internet connection speed. Disabling firewalls that directly monitor web traffic will lower your ping.
  • Exit any applications that may be using up bandwidth. Heavy bandwidth users include applications or browsers that are downloading music, video or other files. Light bandwidth users include chat programs, open browsers and any other application that uses the internet in any way.
  • Choose a server that is geographically close to you. Using servers that are geographically close to you to lowers your ping because the amount of time it takes for a data packet to travel between yourself and the server will be reduced. Use filter options to sort servers by region or look up the IP address to find out where it is hosted.
  • Adjust in-game settings to make sure that there is no default bandwidth cap. This depends on each individual game. The best strategy is to use Google to search for the name of the game you are playing together with the term "bandwidth cap" and browse the results.

1 I do have their highest offer in their plan.

2 I've tried WTFast

2 I am already connected to an ethernet through and wired fiber optic

4 My firewall is disabled, I dont have Zone and such

5 Everything is closed

6 You cant choose servers in truckersmp, only EU and united states

6 No results

You said that you changed from ADSL to fiber, did you stay with the same ISP or changed to a different one? Because the new ISP can have different routes than the previous one to reach international destinations and that can cause differences in ping times. "Faster" doesn't exist in internet as most people understand it. Internet traffic in a 300 Mbps fiber is not faster than in a 10 Mbps ADSL. The only difference is that the fiber has a lot more bandwidth, it can "move" a bigger amount of data in the same time.

As an example, imagine that in the picture, the red line is the route between Madrid and Paris of a fiber provider. The green line is the route between Madrid and Paris of an ADSL provider. One person hires a 200 Mbps fiber line to the "red" provider. Another person hires a 10 Mbps ADSL to the "green" provider. Both start downloading the same file from the same server. If the download takes 10 seconds with the fiber, it would take 200 seconds with the ADSL. But if they both do ping tests to the server, the "green" one will give smaller values. Because the route is shorter.

If your ping is a bit higher than before (you said it's around 90 ms), that's good enough for TruckersMP, I've seen players who showed 300+ ms in my TAB list and were not lagging. I wouldn't worry that much.

I do completely have new ISP, my old one is completely f**, in the speedtest of my adsl it goes upto 600 ms and 0.06 mbps, and the new fiber connection is about 4 ms and 230 mbps, and how many second delay is the 90 ms?

The delay is 90 ms, 0.09 seconds. That's what it takes each packet from your PC to reach the server and come back. The difference between a 200 Mbps fiber and a 10 Mbps ADSL is that for each packet that the ADSL receives in a given time, the fiber can receive 20 packets in the same time. But this is relevant only for "heavy" downloads.

Ping tests usually send just 5-10 packets, 8 bytes each. With such a low amount of data, 6 Mbps is as good as 230 or 3000 Mbps.

What I was trying to explain is that ping tests, when done properly (without other programs using the link) only depend on the distance. If your new provider has its internet uplinks on a route to France that is longer than the route of the previous provider, having a slightly higher ping is completely normal (this is what I wanted to "illustrate" with my picture).
