Concerns regarding the Special Transport DLC

Recommended Posts

I highly doubt we will see this DLC in MP for a few reasons, the size of the loads on the trailers is one big thing as the problem will be those who do not own the DLC will not see the big oversized load and that will cause issues. The other problem is the AI vans that go with you and help with obstacles as I cannot see how that can come to MP as AI are disabled in MP.

I could be wrong tho the devs might surprise us but I'm douthfull, this maybe a SP only DLC but we will have to wait and see.

People said the same with heavy cargo, and now it isn't a problem at all. Same with doubles. This DLC as any other will be compatible with MP sometime and everybody will get used to dealing with it.

I dont see why it could cause chaos. A normal player driving this kind of load will give way to the other players, also a truck pulling this huge loads will move considerably slower than a normal truck, so it will be fairly easy to overtake even if the player does not give way.

The only problem i see, is being involved in traffic jams with a trailer that could block both lanes of the road. I think they can be treated as "useless traffic" in these situations, altough they are not useless. And a slow, huge trailer could cause accidents with reckless drivers, but... huh, reckless drivers do not discriminate between huge and small vehicles, they crash everything :D

Honestly, I do see support for special transit DLC once the new trailers and crude models of the cargo are made.  Past the first few days, I don't see the trailers being more than a occasional thing to pull over for like the current extreme cargo or like how things are on the 1 lane roads in the DLC areas

This DLC will be restricted to only certain routes in SP, so it should be the same in MP (just like they did with the Doubles being restricted to Scandinavia). If that happens and can be done, it would need a lot of thinking about the allowed routes, because if one of those is the C-D road, chaos is guaranteed. Not because "someone" with the trailer can block both lanes, but because there would be lots of "someones" driving those trailers on that same road. And many of them would try to break some speed records with them, you can be sure about that. Same with every 2 lanes - 2 ways roads, they would be the most challenging, but in MP, that means chaos. In SP, the Pilot vehicles would make room and stop traffic for the trailer to go by, but in MP that's not happening and we all know how respectful (sarcastic mode) most of the players are, so hoping that people would stop and pull over to let you drive your huge trailer is just that: Hope. And you can find another player coming the other way with a trailer as huge as yours... What then?. This thing in MP, EU#2 and unrestricted, is unthinkable.

Just tried it with an no AI mod and it worked without those restrictions from the AI Cars, the only cars i saw were Police cars at turns.

It is drivable but people need to have patients for some Companys where you can't just drive in like  usuall.  Or tmp need to male NCA's bigger.

As some of us may know SCS have just released the special transport DLC and I was wondering how this would work on multiplayer. For those of you who haven't bought this dlc you get escorted around Europe by two vans with you hauling ultra heavy/long/wide cargo, it's great fun doing lane change manoeuvres. So the big question is how will this work?

Most likely won't be supported as we are talking about big loads. But who knows, time will show.
Maybe with some special rules like for double it will work out.

Not to panic, but this might be the biggest issue. However, I don't see how disabling jobs that take you from certain cities to others for different types of cargo will not work in multiplayer.

I got it, and it's a real pain in the a** to turn over some intersections, even with the AIs. I don't want to imagine the ammount of idio... people who would take the special trailer to somewhere else. That would block the traffic for real. I obviously want to be on TMP with these trailers, but I really don't think that the trolls will let you drive safely, and by how the report system works, your trailer will be on 99% damage even before an admin shows up.

Another possibility would be that real pilot cars would do the road blocking, that would be really great, but yet again, it wouldn't happen the most of the times, maybe during an event or a convoy.

I have read all the replies made to this post. I can add to as well as echo some of your sentiments. For example, I would like to have this on mp. On a special server. Maybe with NCZ everywhere for starters and then we move on from there.

There are some issues with the AI escorts if they are put on mp. Let's say two or more convoys meet on a junction or roundabout. Which AI convoy will give way to the other? SCS did not make this with mp in mind. Only the single player experience. So if the developers allow it on mp, they will have to get rid of the AI and let the drivers sort it out themselves.

Also, players should be able to access any server they wish without any form of bias, whether they have this DLC or not.

Simple.... Another server to people with this DLC only.... This is solution.

Indeed... It would be massive :)

Also, given TMP retweeted the tweet from SCS about the special delivery dlc, I believe developers are dreaming about it to bring it on MP. It might not work but be sure they're looking into it ;)

Instead of not including the DLC in MP, they could just hire more admins. I'm actually surprised that's not one of the positions they are listing as "opened" since there needs to be many more than they have now even without this DLC. Not like there is labor costs to worry about or anything.

As for not being able to overtake wide loads..... what's so wrong with just following them and not passing them at all, until there is enough space? You don't need to overtake someone the very moment you get behind them. I don't see that part of an issue what so ever. Just cruise control at their speed until you can safely get by.

truckersmp must not block people using this dlc.if people crash cause of hitbox, its their problem. they can go and buy the dlc. no one is forcing them to play multiplayer. so this must be added into mp game.

Guest Graywolf.

The tmp devs will add it if it is possible...I myself do not care either way,but if they did i think it would cause more chaos..imo

Special Transport DLC:  i know many people want to drive this big trailers with their friends. i am sure it support MP in some days. i think AI vans will be removed to make it easy for mp.  instead of creating new server we can use EU4 (NCZ) server as Big trailers always cause huge traffic jam. If people are expecting for more experience than TMP should create dedicated server just for special Transport DLC :P and adding some more rules just for that server.

this SPECIAL TRANSPORT  DLC cant be implemented in MP, is to heavy and large to drive on the same road with the 80% players who have no idea about driving!!

when i drive i have patience, i can wait if someone has a problem, or when am in a traffic jam..... but most of the "kids" dint have patience at all.....

Honestly the major problem I see with the DLC is when there is two people, from both directions, heading towards each other with the wide trailers. The two trailers will definitely hit each other and will cause chaos. The only solution that I can think of to reduce this kind of situation, and any other relateable situations, is to reduce the collision width of the trailers for players only (meaning that players can drive through the extended bits of the trailer without colliding with them); this will reduce the amount of blocking and ramming etc done by players but will still allow a challenge when taking turns (as the collision will still work if the trailer touches anything else but a player).

i hope you going not allowed Special Transport trailers at C-D road. If you let players drive on this road with big trailers it's gonna turn in a real chaos.
