Can the key for push-to-talk (the key "X") be changed?

I would like to assign it somewhere on my steering wheel.

There is but isn't a way where you can change it. What I mean - by default the TruckersMP mod doesn't allow you to switch the CB key. However, I play with a G920 myself and I have found a solution. You have to download and install a 3rd party software called Joy2Key which can be found HERE and from there you can use whatever button you like. I personally like the "Y" button on the wheel so I mapped it to that, but your welcome to use whatever is most convenient for you.

 

If you decide to try it out I will leave 2 screenshots below of what it would look like once it's setup.

By default, its not possible to bind the multiplayer keys to the steering wheel I'm afraid. Currently there's no way to change the multiplayer controls. If I remember correctly, this is in the to-do list of the devs, so we'll hopefully see it soon.

There are programs that allow you to bind any keys to your controller buttons, here's a quick list with some free ones: https://alternativeto.net/software/pinnacle-game-profiler/?license=free

 

And if your controller is a Logitech, you can (if I'm not wrong) do the same thing without adding any other programs, Logitech Profiler or Logitech Gaming Software allow you to bind keys to your controller buttons as well.
