Dual tires for trailer

Hi Truckers,

My suggestion:

Suggestion Name:

Dual tires for trailer

Suggestion Description:

Now it is not possible to enter a server if you have the rear wheels of the truck on a trailer, the launcher detect it and kick you.

My wish is to unlock the r_wheel folder, with the "complete" wheels (rims and tire are together), so that we can save edit the wheels on the trailer.

(I am not sure) I think in the earlier version of TMP was it allow to put the wheels on the trailer and you will not kicked from the server, please correct me if I am wrong.

The wheels do not expand the hitbox so much I know.

Any example images:

Why it should be added?

1. It looks nice :P

2. Good for tuning meeting (3 different rims avaible)

3. diversified because everytime to see the same wheels are boring

4. Fits perfect to another trailer types, everyone who works with trailers and try to put the dual wheels from the cartransport  on an another trailer knows the issue with the cartrans wheels (to small, very deep in the trailer's chassis and etc), the (rear) steel rims fits perfect on mostly every trailer except overweight and cartransporter trailers.

Thank you for reading this suggestion

@ShadowWolf2k7 No, you haven‘t understand my suggestion.

The TMP launcher detect the dual tires on the trailer and kick me for having „Truck parts on the trailer“ and  I want that the detector don‘t kick someone if he have dual tires on the trailer.

Why SCS?

The dual tires are already in the game and at ATS is there a folder with complete wheels, chrome wheels and normal wheels.

what I was pointing out is in ATS the trailers from the states come standard with 4 wheels per axle, and most trailers have 2 axles. as for customizing them, it would have to be an outside mod. not sure if you can even edit them via the save file edit. as for the ETS ones, I'm a fairly sure that they are made around EU trailers which have 2 wheels per axle, I maybe wrong on that since I don't live in a EU country. so what it would be doing is in a sense adding truck parts ie the dual wheels to a trailer.

The problem here, is that mods aren't generally supported and this is why the game is likely detecting a modification to your trailer and kicking you. May help everyone if you state this is something you've added to the game rather than it being there by standard? Don't remember seeing dual tyres on a trailer in single-player.

Kind regards,

Matthew

here is a question,  how would it show to others that the trailer has dual wheels per axle in game? currently, from my understanding, only the trucks have dual wheels on the extra axles. if that is the case, then when you save edit/mod the trailer, you have to add truck parts to the trailers. even though it is only graphical it is still part of a truck modded/save edited onto a trailer.

Hi @ShadowWolf2k7,

You can see the rim of the wheel and everyone will know that this is a dual tire.

And what for extra axles?

There are three different axles: Front, Rear, Trailer Front and Trailer

Front: steerable and more wheel parts can put on axle

Rear: Not steerable and more wheel parts can put axle

Trailer Front: Steerable, only one accessory can put on axle

Trailer: Not steerable, only one accessory can put on axle

You can only replace the trailer wheel to a rear truck wheel and done, you don‘t have to put truck parts on the trailer to get this wheel.

the part that I bolded is what I would consider a truck part.

as for axles on trucks and trailers I am aware of the number of axles and tires/wheels. the steering axle on the truck has 2 tires/wheels. the drive axle which can be up to 3 axles has 4 tires/wheels per axle. since I don't have the heavy/high power cargo dlcs for ETS I cant say about them. the standard trailers in ETS have up to 3 axles all with 2 tires/wheels per axle.

I play ATS more and all normal cargo trailers have up to 2 axles with 4 tires/wheels per axle. the heavy cargo trailers have up to 2 dolley trailers which has 2 axles with 4 tires/wheels per axle. and the main trailer, depending on the cargo, has 3 fixed axles with 4 tires/wheels per axle.

Not the driving behavior, only a graphical change.

There are 3 different dual tires types. Good for „special Company“ Trailer.

And you can put the dual tires on mostly every trailer

It’s not that it changes the behaviour, it’s more that it makes the trailer look abnormally wide and tall because essentially, most mods/save edits that add dualies to the trailer take stock truck wheels and slap them on over the standard trailer wheels. And yes, depending upon the quality of the “mod”, it can effect the trailers stability not only on your screen but more so on others.

At least from I’m from (the uk) there’s a mix of dualies and singles depending on the trailers use, the general rule is, the heavier th3 cargo or the longer the trailer, the high the chances it’s going to be a dual setup. Most trailers I see personally are single, with just 2 wheels per axel, but the more specialised and heavier trailers, like the flatbeds, lowloaders and extra tall trailers, they all have dualies, 4 wheels per axel.

As to answer why, OP, you get kicked, I’m damn sure a while back trailer edits that involve the wheels were banned because of issues with glitches and the chrome rims causing lag and strain on the server. Personally, dual trailers are more of a American thing than a European thing because we normally transport less weight per trailer than the USA

the fastest way to get this implemented into MP, would be to make the suggestion to SCS. that way they can update the trailers to support the dual tires per axle on the trailers. that way it would be part of the game, everyone would have it and you wouldn't get kicked for having truck parts (the rear wheel section of a truck) edited onto a trailer.

@MastersMacOSX Why added?

It is already in the game but TMP not allow us to enter the MP with these rims on the trailer.

It’s because it’s essentially splicing things that were never designed to work together, into one thing, which can cause the game to freak out and crash or cause graphical issues.

If SCS added standard trailers with dual wheel options, then it’ll be easier to swap the trailer rims with truck rims without causing any glitches in the matrix, but personally, most trailers I see regularly are just single axels.

It’s like some truck modifications that are done through save editing, it may seem okay, but it depends what the consequences are for those who see it and not drive it, I mean, the trailer mods that do work, such as the weight mods and the trailer swaps are okay because they use properties of the trailers ingame and just apply them to different loads, changing the wheels on the other hand takes a truck part that isn’t supposed to be found on a trailer and puts it there, that’s obviously going to cause issues, it’s like putting truck wheels on the scout or scout wheels on a truck, it’ll cause more harm than good.
