Horn spamming protection

Recommended Posts

Suggestion Name: Protection against horn spammers

Suggestion Description: If a player is honking for too long they will get a warning, and if continuing to honk, they will get kicked.

The time taken for a player to get a warning about honking would probably be around ~5 seconds of continuous honking. And if honking for 10-15 seconds the player will automatically get kicked.

Then there is a cooldown, so players cant honk for 9 seconds, then stop for a second and then honk again for 9 seconds.

Any example images: Nope!

Why should it be added?: The Horn Spamming Protection System (or HSPS if you will) is useful for preventing people from spamming their horn, annoying people insanely.

-1 No way should there be any sort of auto system and 5  - 10 secs is not really horn spamming, if you don't like horns then tuen the horn sound off and if someone honking for a minute or more for no apparent reason then thats real horn spamming and can be reported

-1 horn spam isn't really such a big issue, or at least, isn't a big enough issue to warrant a strict automatic system, especially as 10-15 seconds isn't that long, what if someone cuts in queue so someone holds the horn down to draw attention to the queue jumper? The bigger priority is the jumper as they could cause an accident.

Also, is it really fair to kick someone from the server just for using their horn? It's like the police arresting you for honking your horn IRL, it's too strict of a punishment for a minor issue, yeah if someone's holding their horn for over a minute, then it can be seen as annoying because that's plenty of time to get the message across, but 10 seconds is way to short.

plus, if horn spamming was such an issue, why allow people 9 seconds with a 1 second cooldown? That's effectively saying, "carry on holding it down". Either say no spamming full stop or impose strict guidelines with no cooldown.

While I understand why you thought of this, I have to give -1 simply because there isan option to deactivate, if there wasn't the option to do that I would have supported this. :)

-1 due to the fact that these sounds can be turned off. The horn icon that appears next to the truckers name is a nice feature in this case because you can see that they are honking without having to listen to it. This would be too strict of a rule since many truckers regularly run red lights and fail to yield, especially if nobody is around, and nothing seems to happen to them. This was probably a suggestion worth making and seeing the opinions of others here though.

Maybe it's an idea not to have a timer but send the spammer a warning when he gets reported for it a few times (twice maybe?)

Then if after the warning more reports come in within a given time frame a second warning will be issued.

If still more reports come in he will be kicked.
