Promods server

Hi!

 

I was wondering if would be possible to have a seperate server with promods for about 500 players (at least)? And you could make it that only those who wants to play on that server needs to have promods, others who would be playing on normal ones wouldn't need to have it.

This would require a partnership with Promods, and I doubt that will happen. Also the server infrastructure will need to be expanded to a new level, because Promods is 2.5GB.

Simple reason is that you can't validate that someone is using the official link and not another and then if someone is running a modified version, it can cause some issues.

Well, if Promods push a small update that means everybody needs to re-download it all again. It really puts a lot of stress on the servers.

It would be a really great thing to have But wouldn't be easier if people would download promods as they used to it (via promods website) and then just go on this "dedicated" server?

Plus, ProMods requires all maps DLCs, not all players own them.

That's why it should be a small server that only those who actually wants to play promods together can do that, that's the whole reason.

The issue with promods is that there won't be just a few players, and the logistics of updating and maintaining that is hard to scale (and before you say p2p; you still need to make the inital seed, and that's where our bottleneck already is ;)).
