Unable to login "Timeout, trying again"

Modularis

Question

Hi everyone

After the recent update to Truckers MP, I am now unable to login to the multiplayer through either ats or ets2. Before the update, servers would appear instantly on the login screen. Now it stays at loading servers for a while and then says "Timeout, retrying" and nothing progresses further. Clicking on "play" opens a box with the message "loading servers data, please wait". Also, when I close the game after not being able to login, it still shows in Steam that I am "in game" ets2/ats. I have checked the task manager and ats/ets2 do not show up as running, and I have to restart steam and then I am no longer "in game". In ats in single player, I am able to connect to to a profile which has world of trucks enabled, but however I am not able to use my single player profile with world of trucks in ets2, it just gets stuck at "signing in" when I select the profile. I have tried disabling my firewall, reinstalling ets2, reinstalling Truckers MP launcher and deleting the TruckersMP folder in ProgramData in order for the files to be downloaded again. My internet is also working fine.

Do you have any sort of anti-virus software? Disable it, specifically the firewall (if it has one).

Sorry I forgot to say that you need to download and install both of these programs, it might very well fix your problem,

.NET Framework 4.6.2

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53344

VisualC++ 2015

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

Also try these things below,

Hi there,

I would recommend you do something known as "flushing your dns". To do this simply -

1. Press Start or the Windows icon via your desktop taskpane

2. Search for "cmd"

3. Right click the "cmd" icon and select "Run as Administrator"

4. Within cmd - Type this command:   "ipconfig /flushdns"     (Without any quotation " " marks)

5. Wait for this to complete.

Regarding your World of Trucks issue, I would suggest you sign out of it completely - go to your edit profile and remove all email / password login information and try again.

This should hopefully work.

Hi,

Sorry about this connection error you are having.

Please try these methods:

1. Reset your network adapator

This page will guide you through what you need to do and explains for different Windows operating systems as you scroll down.

https://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=6653

You type

·         netsh int ip reset reset.txt

·         netsh winsock reset

·         netsh advfirewall reset

In to a DOS window (Comand Prompt).

2.

Clearing the ARP Cache https://techjourney.net/clear-delete-and-refresh-arp-cache-entry/

Resetting your network adapter http://www.home-network-help.com/netsh-winsock.html

Clearing your DNS Cache https://documentation.cpanel.net/display/CKB/How+To+Clear+Your+DNS+Cache

Changing DNS to Google's Public DNS, https://www.techworm.net/2016/08/change-default-dns-google-dns-fast-internet-speeds.html

You can also try resetting the Winsock Catalog

step 1: click on windows search program and type "cmd" enter

step 2: once you're in, type "netsh winsock reset catalog" enter

step 3: type "netsh int ip reset.log hit" enter

step 4: restart your computer

Additionally,

Many thanks,

@EnLight Doing that seemed to sort of worked at first, I am able to log in and play, but after exiting the game and opening it again I get the same issue, and had to restart my computer in order to reconnect. And now, 24 hours later when I tried to login I am unable to, and flushing the dns again doesn't seem to help anymore. Also I removed world of trucks from my profile, but when I try to re login with world of trucks the game gets stuck trying to login to world of trucks. Could it be possible that something is blocking ets2 and ats from acsessing the internet, but not all of the time?

@Sentinel_ Thanks for the reply, but that didn't seem to work at all.

Did you change to the Google DNS and clear your ARP cache?

@Sentinel_ I have done that, but my connection to truckersmp still only rarely works, and no internet functions of the either ets2 or ats work, such as world of trucks, the internet radio, etc. I have also noticed that sometimes the truckersmp launcher sometimes re downloads coreets2mp.dll and coreatsmp.dll saying they are updating, but this doesn't make sense as there are not multiple updates in a day.

Change DNS to

Preferred: 8.8.8.8

Alternate: 8.8.4.4

Restart PC and disable Antivirus software temporarily to see if it works out.

@Sentinel_ little advice dont go that deep with arp cache and winsock, you may end up messing up your windows network config, also not really usefull for a simple client/server side connection

@Sentinel_ It turns out that it was my firewall that was creating the problem. I tried disabling it earlier, but it didn't seem to help. Apparently I needed to restart my computer in order for it to disable, but now I have done that, everything now works again! Thanks very much for your help.
