first menu in game not working

Stripey Socks

Question

I downgraded Euro Truck Simulator 2 to 2.16, waited until it was done and launched the game. It does its intro, goest to the menu where you have to login, but none of the buttons on that menu work. So I cannot go in game. I also redownloaded the launcher, but that did not make any difference. Anyone know how to solve this?

Hello,

i got that problem too one year ago. I just deleted ALL files of ETS2 and ETS2MP(search your computer for ALL Files in ANY ETS2 and multiplayer folders). Then i reinstalled ETS2 and the multiplayer. Then it worked again. You have to save your screenshots or what you need in another folder, maybe on the desktop.

I hope i could help you.

Hi,

Please try these things

1. Run the program as an administrator (right click the shortcut and select 'run as an administrator' and accept the UAC prompt.

2. Run TruckersMP in compatibility mode for Windows 7, please follow this guide http://pearsonsupport.helpserve.com/Knowledgebase/Article/View/210/21/how-to-install-or-run-a-program-in-compatibility-mode-in-windows-7

3. Install these two programs

.NET Framework 4.6.2

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=53344

VisualC++ 2015

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

Run ETS 2 for DirectX 64bit

1. Right click ETS 2 in your steam library

2. select run as DirectX 64bit and go into game.

3. Go into game and then exit and retry MP.

You should see this when you open ETS 2 SP too.

So I tried reinstalling everything, did not work.

I tried everything Sentinel_ said, did not work either.

Try to run a sfc /scannow command in DOS then restart your computer and try again. https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-use-sfc-scannow-to-repair-windows-system-files-2626161

Also, download CCleaner and run a registry cleanup and try again. https://www.piriform.com/docs/ccleaner/using-ccleaner/registry-cleaning

As a last option, delete the ETS2MP folder from documents and follow the guide below,

Press the Windows Key + R (Win+R) on your keyboard

Enter "%programdata%" and press Enter (without the quotes)

Find the folder "TruckersMP" and delete that folder.

Navigate to C:\Program Files\ and delete the folder named "TruckersMP Launcher"

Go to our website and re-download and install the Launcher with admin privileges https://truckersmp.com/download/

Also, verify the ETS 2 game files.
