Suggestion Name: Stricter Overtaking Rules

Suggestion Description: At current overtaking is an offense subject to admins discretion, meaning some may only get kicked, others may get banned for days. What I propose is to make separate overtaking rules, the standard rules for just general overtaking on normal road conditions, (with the re-addition of a stricter 100M rule, but that I will go into detail on in a moment) and strict rules for specific road conditions such as traffic jams, convoys and other such situations where accidents are a known factor.

Now, as for the 100M rule, in recent times its sort of been forgotten about as an unnecessary rule, but from a personal stand point, I would like to see this rule be enforced more viciously as so many people ignore the overtaking rule about waiting to be let in by the other driver when its safe on their end, mostly because people just don't bother to signal people in, so people simply clear themselves of others which results in either them forcing the other person off the road or causing a lag crash because they cut in right in front of the other driver. With the rule being reapplied and Reinforced, It should cut down on the amount of people causing accidents and cutting in and running people off the road, plus it stops people having to rely on the other driver to clear them before they can re-join traffic flow.

Any example images: No, but its easy to see by sitting in the Calais-Duisburg Jams for a few days.

Why should it be added? This would mean That admins are able to punish those passing in the worst areas of the map more severely and allows people to know the consequences of their actions in these situations by having a separate rule for this offence, as we all know, sitting in the Jams and seeing people just scream on by is annoying and when they only get a minimal punishments depending on the admin who deals with it, it makes the situation a whole lot worse.

G'day @megadethsteve666,

What you'll find is that the TruckersMP rules are already becoming more strict for areas of higher population.

If you overtake on the Calais-Duisburg Road in traffic filled areas, it is a guaranteed punishment.

The thing that also has to be considered is that the admin does not see everything. When you click the report user button ingame, the admin is not going to see the upcoming events.

The thing that needs to happen is that more users need to be recording and reporting the few users who are ignoring the rules.

By doing this, it would aim to discourage dangerous overtaking as users would see that there is a more guaranteed punishment and a higher chance of being caught in the act.

The topic of overtaking is a bit of an interesting one at the moment as there are many factors such as lag that are leading to issues being caused.

Lets hope that your suggestion is considered anyway mate.

Thank You.

There are already stricter overtaking rules for when there is high traffic/traffic jams like on the Calais - Duisburg road like no overtaking. As for the rest of the map I really don't see the need to add stricter overtaking rules, as long as people overtake safely without causing a crash then there is no reason for a ban or kick. Also lag could be a part in all this aswell, some people may lag and it would be very unfair for them to be banned. the flashing to let people in, I rarely to almost never see that happen in MP.

that's what im saying, the "flash to let the other in" kind of thing NEEDS to be scrapped in favour of the old rule of being up to 100M ahead of the person before merging in.

Also, I think you missed the point of my suggestion, what im saying is to make the rule for overtaking and overtaking in high population areas separate with a FIXED penalty for High population areas being up to a 2 week ban to teach people not to overtake. I did a tally of people over the last week who pass me while im travelling at 60MPH on a the open stretch of the Calais-Duisburg road and im shocked to say that 85% of all overtakes that were done were unsafe, from cutting people off to forcing others off the road to overtaking when they can see oncoming traffic. 15% of all overtakes were safe 15!! out of 100. Yet my last report of this got revoked because they deemed a guy passing on the grass on oncoming lanes and then door jamming me off the road to be safe enough to only warrant a warning. That's why I made this suggestion, to toughen up the overtaking rules and scrap the whole rely on the other driver notion in favour of a distance measurement system to make the roads SAFER and FAIRER for all drivers, Realistic or not.

Well, the 100M thing does include the voluntary "Flash and you can come in" so that's out of the question.

However, if you're recording and is shown to have been a dangerous overtake then I'm sure the admin's would be kind enough to recognise the report- so long as you quote the rule broken in the description.

I disagree with this strongly.

The rules on overtaking are already strict. Personally, I think that unless you get hit by someone's overtaking, or you have to move to get out of the way, you're overtaking is fine. Obviously, this does not apply to busy areas, but you get the idea.

Personally, and this is just my opinion, I would actually loosen the rules on overtaking. There is no need for a seperate overtaking rule, as this comes under Reckless Driving. Although this is a simulator, having really strict rules really does make it less fun to just go and drive :D

Just my two cents :P

@moopmoop00 it is 110% self explanatory, but its extremely annoying, especially when guys generally get away with nothing more than a slap on the wrist, whereas we end up in the ditch or with 30%+ of damage. Its even worse in the queues when some impatient PoS decides to overtake and rams headon or into the side of traffic and ruins multiple peoples days, yet ive seen admins ban these individuals for as little as 2 hours!! it is a bit of a joke in my opinion where you get punished harder for swearing or generalised reckless driving than you do for unsafe overtakes and queue jumping.

The current rules of §§2.4, 2.5 are strict enough. There should at least be a little bit of space for users to decide in which way they want to drive. We cannot control every little movement. Since the rules are, in fact, stricter, I will move that suggestion to "done".

Done.
