ATS MP stalls with frozen mouse at Launchpad screen

wheelman (AUS)

Question

ATS works fine in SP mode (Windows 7), but while loading MP the first SCS software splash screen with the whirling centre animation is white rather than black, while the next American Truck Simulator screen is normal. When the load reaches the launchpad screen, the screen looks normal but the cursor is frozen and although the game doesn't seem to have frozen (according to Task Manager), nothing works and the only way to kill the game is via Task Manager. This is the error message Windows generates when killing the game via Task Manager:

Hi,

Firstly download this program here and run a scan, also run a scan with your anti-virus software.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/safety/pc-security/malware-removal.aspx

Secondly, Run an SFC check to check the integrity of your operating system.

Guide: http://www.thewindowsclub.com/how-to-run-system-file-checker-analyze-its-logs-in-windows-7-vista

Thirdly, remove or if they are open close any torrent applications such as bit torrent or utorrent

Fourthly, re-install your graphics drivers.

Please list your CPU and GPU (if you don't have a dedicated GPU then just list your CPU).

Also please announce your memory specifications, (RAM).

5 ) Restart your computer to refresh your memory cache,

Hello @wheelman1!

Have you tried launching the game with DirectX? If you have selected to not show the launch window anymore, you can enable it by deleting launcher.dat file from ATSMP folder. File path to it on my PC is >This PC>Documents>ATSMP

I hope it helps,

TruckBro

Made "launcher.dat" bold.

I did these two steps but they didn't show any errors.

Then I deleted launcher.dat as suggested by TruckBro, and running in DirectX seems to fix the issue.

Cheers and thanks for your suggestions anyway, 3567.

Tried this and running in DirectX mode fixes the problem. Thanks for the suggestion TruckBro, I'm now back on the ATS MP road.

Glad I could help you! :)

(I am aware that you should refer to post above with "^", but I quoted that part to clarify things, because what @wheelman1 said is inside the quote from my post. Anyway, thanks for keeping the forums clean, mods.)
