ATSMP won't load properly

ATSMP loads up to the launch pad (but the first two start up screens don't show) but wont allow me to go any further....... Mouse doesn't even move on the screen. I have only been getting this issue once I jumped to the updated version of 1.4.2.2s. What could my problem be?

When launching MP make sure you choose "Launch with DirectX". I had always left on the first (and default) option, but after the newest update, for some reason, leaving it on the default option will launch the game with OpenGL which causes exactly the same errors that you mentioned.
