Yeah mate there isn't alot that you can do with the pilot cars that you can't do with the trucks.

Just don't start impersonating police, and don't block and you'll be fine.

Have a good read over the rules to clarify.

The rule says:

Inappropriate Convoy Management

Groups (And Individuals) which offer services such as piloting a convoy, or directing trucks during a convoy are not allowed to block, or slow down, traffic in any way, shape, or form.

So I believe that covers giving your convoy priority and blocking load.  Also be careful of being at the back of the convoy in your pilot car as their brakes are made from sponge!

90% of crashes, which damage my trailer and truck badly is caused by people who drive that passenger car with no valid reason. This is euro truck simulator, not euro car simulator. Usage of that car should be more restricted because it causes too much havoc on the roads.

Unless I am mistaken, cars were introduced to the game on players request.

The extent of their usage is defined by the in-game rules. It is nowhere mentioned that a valid reason is required to drive them.

The game does not need additional limitations.

The game needs players that observe the rules.

those who wish to use trucks as pilot vehicles, change your WOT profile licence plate to [PILOT] would be a good idea

if you are a pilot of an oversize, although dont block or impede traffic, drive in such a manner as to warn on coming drivers that there is an oversize behind you when on undivided roads like some back roads.

Drivers of other vehicles, when you see the pilot up ahead (which i think should be driving with beacons ON) slow down, especially if you are near a junction, yeild and let the oversize guy move first as the oversize will need a lot of room to turn.  the load might be being driven by a keyboarder and we all know what its like to drive using W.A.S.D to control your trucks.  Be prepared to stop and let the pilot and oversize load to pass, pull over if needed.

on that point, ON ATS-MP i might even in Nevada be found running at 55 even when the limit is 80.  that is not to be a blocker, thats to save my fuel and as a keyboard using player, thats also to give me a margin of control to make it safer for you guys who might want to pass me.  in ETS on an undivded road, I might be down to 35 to 40 even if its a 50mph signed road.  (law used to be in the UK that anything over 7.5t could only do 40mph on undivided 2-lane roads) but again its all down to one thing, I dont own a logitech and have to do things on a keyboard.

^ No we don't, the ones in ETS don't get used properly as it is. There has been no truck in that game that I have seen towing an oversized load, therefore absolutely no beacons should be in use at all. Even the pilot cars don't use the beacons properly, nor are they used properly. A pilot car is usually only used for an oversized load, when IRL do you see a regular semi truck being piloted by a car? I sure haven't seen one at all. Normally the only time a beacon is ever used on any vehicle is when they are working and they need others to be aware of that vehicle, hence is why you really only see road construction vehicles using beacons and airport vehicles on the tarmac using beacons. I get that this is a game and every user is free to customize their truck as they wish, but beacons get used WAY too much IMO.

Additional to @Trucking Gekco's explanation, I also need to mention that

Depending on national road traffic act, yellow beacons are authorized (among others)

  • on vehicles or cargo of unusual width and length (oversize/ overweight load), and
  • on vehicles that escort oversize/ overweight load or convoys.

Beacons are usually mounted in pairs symmetrically to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle.

As far as I know, ATS2 and ETS2 do not contain oversize/ overweight load by definition.
The usage of escort vehicles and beacons are therefor only reasonable for convoys.
