Akupunktur Necmettin Posted July 8, 2016 Report Posted July 8, 2016 (edited) Suggestion Name: Add HD Interior / Gauges mod as official option, made by nfshp253Suggestion Description: http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=186784 http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/browse/?appid=227300&searchtext=HD+Gauges&childpublishedfileid=0&browsesort=textsearch§ion=home Add this mod as an option to next update installer (like u did with winter mod, or even force it like Scout car extension) , for making in-cab driving more realistic. Any example images: http://forum.scssoft.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=1375 Why should it be added?: I know, despite several mods need to be packed into one, they are not huge in size, plus they are only changing textures of gauges thus doesn't effect others to game crash. Wouldn't be hard to get permission to use in MP from developer I think. This pack will definitely improve the crappy-ish default Low-quality gauges to real-looking HD gauges which I used in singleplayer and much better feeling. Especially DAF 105XF's default tachometer annoys me real hard, my only reason I hate driving it. You can compare these with default gauges I didn't post for unnecessity, and you will see the immersion level there, If you think like me. PROS: - Real gauges, updated - Zero impact on performance - Texture mod only, plus only for interior hence zero impact on others, wouldn't cause mod confliction crashes whatsoever - Not huge in size. ? Akupunktur Necmettin Posted July 8, 2016 Author Report Posted July 8, 2016 Why not here , but SCS? SCS would have already done that after these many updates. And this mod stays in official SCS forums as you can see. So, for sake of promoting modding they didn't add as update, in my opinion.
The Imaginative Lad Posted July 8, 2016 Report Posted July 8, 2016 We cannot add mods from the steam workshop or any other mods that are not created by the developer's here. The Scout car was made by the developer's and so was implemented into the TruckersMP mod. Also we cannot edit or replace base game textures, models, etc. 1 Have a problem with your ban? The Imaginative Lad Posted July 8, 2016 Report Posted July 8, 2016 ^I don't know what the exception was for the winter mod. I never used it. I don't know if it replaced textures or not, it may have been a layer over the original textures, I wouldn't know. What I do know is that we don't support steam workshop mods or other mods. Wapsie Posted July 8, 2016 Report Posted July 8, 2016 Well with winter mod the story is different then with other mods. The winter mod has been used before in the MP version. And well it just needed to be there for the winter season.
El1teZombiezHD Posted July 9, 2016 Report Posted July 9, 2016 It is a great idea and it looks good. There are many mods like this that may enhance your side of the game (not that other players can see it) however if we add one mod, many other mods would need to be added. We would also have to ask permission from the Mod Author to use it, and also each time a game update is released, the author will need to make it compatible with that version and the MP team would have to do the same with the Mods compatibility with MP. Mirrland Posted July 9, 2016 Report Posted July 9, 2016 It is a good idea, however many mods aren't compatible with MP and thus if I were you I would suggest this to SCS Software. TruckersMP - Staff Team Member - Twitter | Steam | Facebook | YouTube | Discord -
soulhax Posted July 9, 2016 Report Posted July 9, 2016 I'm 100% sure that every mod maker would give his permission for using something in MP but will he make the mod compatible with updates that's the question.
Akupunktur Necmettin Posted July 9, 2016 Author Report Posted July 9, 2016 (edited) Alright, you all have valid points there, especially development side.. For asking SCS, only me asking wouldn't raise up much attention to them imo. What about if we mail together? EDIT: I just sent a mail to them, with intro and copy-pasting my topic content. Either using these mods officially, or overhauling their current ones with reallife counterparts, just like they did with DAF XF 106. Edited July 9, 2016 by Benedettini

[ S.PLH ] Warrior Posted August 4, 2016 Report Posted August 4, 2016 This can add more work for the developer, we all know mods can have bugs, which needs too be fixed obviously, however the owner must apply a fix for it, and it's very possible that in order too get fix working in mp the dev must port it in again which result in a new release This was also the case for winter and Autumn mod, example bugs like trees in the road was not fixed
NCC-1701 Posted August 4, 2016 Report Posted August 4, 2016 On the one hand I also think that this is a good idea because it is more realistic. Otherwise the developers should only integrate new mods if it is a reasonable burden. If it cost a long time to make MP compatible to this mods (especially with every update) they should not be integrated in the MP because there are things that are more important. Then it is better to suggest this to SCS. Best Regards from Germany, SlatsNflaps
Guest Posted August 15, 2016 Report Posted August 15, 2016 Maintenance on having a mod like this would add to the workload, hence why Wintermod was an exception as it basicly entered a change-freeze once it was included since it would only be included and available for a short time after which it would not be loadable again. In the case of this mod we would have to either redistribute the mod and maintain that with required checksum and files(and ensure it's updated when required) or follow the mod author's work closely and update our checksums acordingly, add to that the question regarding people using outdated versions, how should that be handled? In short: no.
