Suggestion Name: DLC syncing in multiplayer
Suggestion Description: I've seen games such as ARMA 3 that allow other players to see the DLC guns/vehicles in the game, but they cannot use them. If they try to use them they get the option to purchase it via the steam store. I would love if this could be worked into TMP. It would also likely lead to an increased sale of the DLC's, maybe SCS would help? I don't know.

Any example images

Why should it be added?:

  • none of the above image
  • increase scs dlc sales
  • more customisation in multiplayer.

I do realise that this could be a very complicated thing to add, but even if not now, in the far future it would be very nice!

I think they're planning on making it so that those without the DLC only see the stock truck parts.

I +1 this but at the same time -1 it as people may try and exploit it in some way, which i dont know but if they want it they should just buy it. I would think they will just make it so that if you dont have it you just see stock parts like on paints if you dont have the DLC.

How can they see the stuff when they don't have the files? Offering these files would be illegal as they didn't pay for them.

I imagine it should be possible in the same way the cop car system works.

but instead of check if admin, have it set a variable on your TMP profile when you purchase a DLC. This can be done via a steam check the same way TMP verifies if you've bought the game legally or not.

So, say, you attach a DLC item to your truck, and spawn, the game will check to ensure you have the variable set (Indicating you've bought the DLC).

But if you have the content illegally or are save-file abusing to get the content (assuming it'd have to be added to MP so everyone can see it, therefor everyone would have the files) it'd kick/ban you from the game instantly like the admin copcar system.

I don't exactly know if its possible but I've seen it done in ARMA, I go to grab guns from a car and one of them has a little 'dlc' sticker beside it and I can't take it. But if someone is using it I have the textures for me to see them using it.

Same for PayDay 2.. You can see others with DLCs but can't use them...

I've already requested this almost two years ago and this was the response..

The thing is that this won't happen because in order for this to occur, TruckersMP team should give the DLC content for "free" when installing the MP client, even though it can't be used by people who haven't bought it, this would be illegal as it's piracy and giving paid content for free...

I believe that in order for this DLC syncing to happen, they'd have to talk with SCS and do some changes in base game and MP client (to make it "legal").

the solution for this, is to give away a "few" copies of the dlc's.... witch isn't going to happend :P

And, as long as it's programed so that drivers that don't have the dlc's doesn't crash, but instead sees a stock truck, i'm totaly fine with that solution.

For me, it isn't important that others see the dlc content, i'm not using tons of it either, but still ;) ( and i got em all)

Dude, this is an internet forum. You can't expect people to read stuff. Jeez.

And we want players who can behave, I'm afraid we can't have what we want :(

As been stated previously, not legally possible for us to do, contact SCS.
