Smalley Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 Suggestion Name: Scroll Up/Scroll Down Via In Game Chat Suggestion Description: You can scroll up to previous comments in the chat. This can be helpful in Rotterdam and Europoort and maybe other places if they get jam packed. The whole Idea of it is so people can look back at whats been put in chat. Any example images: Why should it be added?: So people can look back at chat and see what people has been saying within the chat and see what you have missed. 3
Leff12345 Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 Good idea. But then a cursor has to be enabled when you open chat, but I think that is not a big problem. And I also think that when a cursor gets enabled in chat, you can also more easily edit your messages and also copy links which can be useful. 1
Alex KERNEL Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 ^^ I am totally against. As the practice of visiting the Rotterdam/Europort - chat is flood. Dozens of lines of useless information that will occupy computer resources. That doesn't make any sense. ^ For quick communication with friends, use TS3, instant messengers, Skype & etc. To view the chat history, copy from there important links - see the file \Documents\ETS2MP\logs\chat_DD_MM_YYYY.log In this file you will be able to find all chat messages that you missed.
Smalley Posted May 12, 2016 Author Report Posted May 12, 2016 ^ Its more easier to find the chat logs via the chat and its more easier to capture evidence from it.
Alex KERNEL Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 ^ Such cases, when the lost evidence is not often. Not convinced.
Alex KERNEL Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 In my opinion the chat is great for the rapid exchange of information. The scroll of history here is not needed. Exist a chat-log files. As described in the use case I think it is not enough. The elapsed time for implementation and the result will not be comparable.
Caernage Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 Me too, i'm not convinced, for me, its not a good idea, sorry

The chat data is already logged on your computer and eats space that way anyway. So scrolling up (and down) would be nice to keep track of everything that happened while being online 1 "Just because others break rules, does not grant you the permission to break the rules as well" Please drive respectful on the servers. Thank you!
Alex KERNEL Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 ^ I can't imagine a situation in which this would be necessary. Maybe you have an example from your practice? Also I am concerned about the resource consumption and complexity of implementation.
Alex KERNEL Posted May 12, 2016 Report Posted May 12, 2016 For game administrators, I can imagine a scenario of using the chat history. For example: Receives the report on the player for insulting in the chat. The administrator in a separate window, watching the chat history on the player for the period <report time> - 20min. Taking the decision. I think that it would be convenient and practical. This request to the improvement for the sake of improving.

Digital Posted May 13, 2016 Report Posted May 13, 2016 I actually quite like this idea. Granted there hasn't been many situations where I've needed to scroll up, just the occasional tabbed back in and missed a few things. But if it's easy enough to implement, why not?
CaptainKostaZ Posted May 13, 2016 Report Posted May 13, 2016 Hehe yea nice idea but page up and down are my button to change stations on radio!! Anyway I really hope to see you suggestion on mp How to Report Supported Mods Launcher Error Solutions Rules Ban Appeal Contact Support In case there is a problem where I can help, feel free to contact me by PM.
Bluscream Posted May 29, 2016 Report Posted May 29, 2016 ^ While the chat is open, ingame keybinds should be disabled anyway. Please support my suggestion for easy and safe mod support in ETS2MP:
gluk3_0se Posted June 2, 2016 Report Posted June 2, 2016 I like this idea Smalley, I think this would also make reporting insults and chat experiences much easier. I don't see why this shouldn't be added because the chat logs are stored making this possible. I think it would help admins too whilst sitting in highly populated areas sorting through chat. Without this it is difficult for them due to the large number of reports coming in their chat section.
Smalley Posted June 29, 2016 Author Report Posted June 29, 2016 ^^ I must say, as Rotterdam is busy most of the time and everyone is speaking chat, I think this would be an awesome opportunity for the admins to scroll up & down in case they missed anything which considers rule breaking. Thank you for everyones feedback
SlavaH Posted July 5, 2016 Report Posted July 5, 2016 If it is possible, you could use the page up and page down button too? Or is that not possible as it can be binded.....
-Ant- Posted July 5, 2016 Report Posted July 5, 2016 Honestly, I think this may be a good idea. Instead of having to try to remember who it was and what time it was that the message was sent, or having to park to find a message, ya can just scroll and screenshot. It'll make things easier in my opinion. so +1 from me.
heyhococo Posted July 5, 2016 Report Posted July 5, 2016 Seems like a good idea It also seems much like this suggestion
gluk3_0se Posted July 9, 2016 Report Posted July 9, 2016 Thinking about it, this would take a lot of space and run the game down eventually, maybe if it does get implemented a option that allows you to enable/ disable this.
kaisercharly Posted August 3, 2016 Report Posted August 3, 2016 Id like it alot, especially if I need to find some important Information wrote earlier
[ S.PLH ] Warrior Posted August 4, 2016 Report Posted August 4, 2016 This suggestion has pros and cons (Pros)If you stick to one place, yes it would be helpful too have (if you are in crowded area) (Cons)Since the chat is only local and the admin ports away (for report) and ports back he can't see what is written earlier in chat.
Smalley Posted August 11, 2016 Author Report Posted August 11, 2016 Hello Flying Dutchman But if you think about it for a users benefit. It can help with people who can't find their ID or they have found the ID but forgot to take a screenshot, and if people need hard evidence of disrespect within Rotterdam or Europoort. It can easly help players with reports.
