Public opinion about Traffic Control

Hello TruckersMP,

Recently (May 11th, 16:00) i had some minor problems with a guy called Scorpion from LKW VTC. Seemed like a nice guy until he started this "brawl". Basically, he wanted me to remove my tag that i had at the time, being; Traffic Control.

I wanna know the forums honest opinion about it, as i see it as a very minor thing. I will go ahead and quote the rules he "reported" me for breaking;

Tags in username - Kick / Ban

• It is forbidden to add "Forum Mod", "TS3 Admin" or similar tags to your nickname, which could suggest you're an official TruckersMP Team member or anything similar.

I already know about this one. But i cannot read anywhere that says i cannot use "Traffic Control". I have been banned before for having "ETS2 Police, which is now understandable due to the police cars that the admins drive, but that ban was before this car update and i wasnt careful enough to read all the rules. I changed that, and got unbanned the day after by Philip1212. A really nice guy.

Car Abuse of Pilot Paintjob - Kick/Ban

• Acting as administration, or otherwise abusing the Pilot paintjob. Please note: We prefer only 2 Pilot cars per convoy depending on size.

Acting as administration? Pff. Id be driving with all-out police gear, wouldnt i? But i cant. Thats an auto-kick to the face. Instead, i have to go with the Pilot skin. I just wanna point this out, that i am piloting convoys / escorting people if they want to, and not only doing this control thing so im not "abusing" it a 100%. I dont personally see this as a bannable reason, because as stated above i might be abusing it a bit when im not going in convoys, but other than that its completely legal.

 

He tells me to read the rules, while he says words as "bloody", later he tells people to mind their language, and he himself was adding useless traffic to EP by standing AFK at the side of the highway.

I just wanna hear your thoughts about it. And Scorpion, if youre reading this, no hard feelings okay

 

(Edit: I only do this Control thing when im bored, its nothing i do all the time. Just wanna let you know that i actually drive a truck too.)

You as a non admin have no control over traffic. If caught telling people how to drive or where to drive or blocking areas you will be banned. That is abuse of the pilot car, as for your tag its suggesting you have privilege, I wouldnt use it just to be safe.

Hmm, could be seen as a misleading title, especially if you were a new player so maybe that's what he meant. LKW is a well-known VTC and are very professional and have mature members, I have personally gone through their selection interviews and tests.

Surely if a tag is annoying someone else the mature thing to do would be to move on and remove it?

But @jukeboxknox, im not physically controlling the traffic. All i do/did is/was to look over the traffic, if i see someone speeding i politely tell them to lower their speed. If im driving around and a crash happens, i alert other trafficants by typing in the chat about it and putting my hazard lights on (not blocking traffic). If i see someone ramming/trolling i tell them to stop what theyre doing, as trolls are ruining this game. If they dont, i go to the report section. Basically, i stay well off the road at some locations, just "controlling" traffic. I have never acted as police, such as pulling someone over, or blocking off traffic/roads. I wanna make that completely clear for everyone. I even talked to [Admin] Burner some nights ago (think it was May 8th or 9th) and i asked him about his exact topic (and some other stuff related) and he didnt really bother that much. As long as i didnt act as administration. And i havent done that. Seriously, all i wanna do is to help the community, and try my best to get rid off the trolls. I think we all can agree on that they are ruining our experience. I cannot understand how some arent more understanding.

"Traffic Control" makes it seem like you could be a part of the team, and have special rights/duties in terms of controlling the traffic in certain areas, despite not being a "normal" in game admin. We'd like to avoid this, which is why you were asked to change the tag, and why your tag was, in fact, breaking that rule.

^I agree with jukeboxknox. I think it's ok to be a pilot in a convoy, however pilot cars does not have the authorization to block traffic or truck trucks where to 5go and how to drive.  This is against the in game rules that have been set in place and as a result yiu will be banned.

I have seen alot of players with tags like this. I dont get it why i got so picked on. Traffic Guard? Traffic Safety Car? Help Car?

As i said in my reply above, this is just something i do when im bored. From now on, ill stop doing it.

@HumaneWolf, i dont understand how its misleading. I dont see how it would be connected with TruckersMP staff. If it was Traffic Police, ok. But Traffic Control, no.

@littlerfoot_22, as i said, i have never blocked off traffic or such. I havent broken any other rules.

I have only done this "control" twice. Is it such a big deal?

It's like being an admin just without their powers really, you were just unlucky to be the one to get the report, that is if there are others doing it like you say there are.

I would call that being a mini-admin. There isn't any needed to notify users of their wrong doing, just report them and move on

Apologies if my previous message came across a tad strong  I can fully appreciate the fact that you're adament to help, and we as a community appreciate that, but all you as a user need to do is report the people at fault (you don't need to tell them they're reported ). There are certain tags that admins will deem un-suitable for members of the game, unfortunately yours was just one that someone else felt needed to be dealt with.

There should be way more admins and "traffic controls"

Frequently there are lots of rule breakers like people using unauthorized mods (I saw a guy using the skoda car but he has lights all over)

There was even once where Rotterdam service station is blocked for 4 in game hours, without any admin even coming in.

Maybe there should be another rank of "traffic control", where they can report to the admins if any rule violation occurs, but not powerful enough to kick/ban people.

So exactly the same as a player? A player can report, but not take action. A traffic control rank is not going to happen, I can tell you that.

 

 

Now, sometimes we don't have admin coverage. Despite covering a large variety of timezones, we all have our own lives and sometimes it just happens that nobody is around to do admin work. Generally we have people online, but sometimes we don't. Recruiting more admins is being done every now and then, when we have fitting candidates, but generally we have enough admins to deal with what happens.

I have seen people controlling the weight stations, Ill have to report them next time. I knew they wernt admin, they asked me to pull into service area and asked questions about my load.

What are weight stations? Never heard of them before

^Not in ETS 2, they are in ATS.

They're a part of ATS, not ETS2. Basically a station on the side of the road where you have to pull in if your on-board computer says so  It 'weighs' you and you continue your journey.

When driving the game will randomly ask you to pull in, they check your load info to make sure you arnt smuggling people or drugs.

Weight station in the USA are set up to weigh your truck. Different trucks have different axle weights and gross weights they must go by. Also they use them as inspection stations and keep track of the safety of the companies that run trucks. The D.O.T. not only uses the stations but, alot along side the roads and visit the trucking companies them self.  A lot really goes on at a weight station. Watch a documentary on youtube about one. I never really had any issues driving my rigs in any. I have received fines though but, the company usually pays them. I guess it depends on if the officer had his cake for breakfast or not. I retired the truck and I hear a lot has changed with the weight stations. That's OK. We'll let the trucking up to the young guys. I'm staying home with my family!! Yay! I worked hard to do that.

 

As for traffic control on the game...

 

If you are hired in any way shape or form by the company who owns / operates the game or equipment and have permission to use traffic control methods that is fine.

 

But,......... If your a User / Player / Guest on the game you should have no control except for your own actions that deal with Respect / Morals / Ethics to other users and game owners / operators. It's not a matter of who's right or wrong, It's a matter of what's right or wrong. Only we can control our own actions with out creating mishaps with others or even worse in some cases. Let the traffic control to the admins.
