Guest
Out of curiosity, I was wondering what the community's favorite transmission in ATS is.

MashedPotaton8r
13 speed. Because I don't want to rev my engine so high at 55mph with the 10 speed and not mash X and Square on my controller millions of times with the 18 speed
Guest
Interesting results so far. I was expecting the 13 speed to get a lot more votes. From what I have gathered from various sources, IRL the 13 speed is considered to be the "sweet spot" for the avarage OTR truck and I was more or less expecting this would be reflected in the transmission choice of the avarage ATS player. xOceanSpirit
I use 6, its easier in manual because as @MashedPotato8r said, I dont want to mash the gear stick 10 times to get up to a decent gear. Plus I love the sound of the engine when its on a high gear, BRRRR shhhhh BRRRRRR shhhhhh BRRR, rather than brr h brr h brr h brr, yawn "A river starts out as a puddle, wanting to grow to something much bigger. ShirBlackspots
Something I've noticed is that with the Allison 4500 6 speed automatic, is that you get good acceleration from a stop, but not that great pulling power, and it takes longer to stop than a tranny with the retarder. Oddly, it gets better fuel mileage than the Eaton Fuller 18 speed, even though the 18 speed has better hill climbing (with a powerful enough engine) and you stop faster with a retarder. Guest
Skip to 23:25, it explains why you get that good acceleration; Torque multiplication.
marco6158
I really like the 6 Speed one. On more powerful trucks it's very good and there's better acceleration, I use sequential, but if I had a H Shifter it would be even better Map showing dangerous places in MP - How to use TruckersMP (Italian) Senior Game Moderation Manager
McFreshi
Oh well.. 18 Speed H-Shifter for me lol. I feel like I'm in fast & furios when I'm joining a highway It's more fun tbh and if you have the H-Shifter opportunity, you can always get the right gears for fast acceleration or hillclimbs or everything you want
The Imaginative Lad
Allison 6 speed, too lazy to keep changing gear but not lazy enough for automatic. Have a problem with your ban? Make an appeal
.StεvƐ.
Eaton Fuller 18 Speed Advanced, for that long haul feeling, that and the ability to float through gears and go direct if you wish, no of this revving to the max just to sit at intertate speeds, better for fuel economy, better for your driving experience, better for everything, gotta love H shifter and clutch. ShirBlackspots
At work, the trucks we have (city street department), they all have the Allison 3500 and 4500 automatics. Older ones are 5 speed, and 6 speed only if you press the mode button, and newest are full 6 speed auto. We have Business Class M Freightliners for crew trucks and 5 yard dump trucks. For our 10-14 yard trucks, we have Macks.
Holy Moses
Most of my trucks have the 6 speed, but my W900 has a 13 (which I use the most)
iToady
I normally run a 18 speed, but I also like 13 speed.
peter8795
I've been running with the Eaton Fuller 13 speed in the game. IRL, I have mainly driven trucks with 6 speeds and one with an Eaton Fuller 8LL (which I do enjoy driving).
sk8chalif
should have put automatic, because i know a lot of people using that, you know all the person causing accident and accelerate very fast.. ya those guys lol
Just-A-Random-Name
I find the 13 speed to be my favorite. I have recently acquired a Logitech G29 and I first started using it with the E-F 13spd. I've also used the 18spd but I don't find it necessary to press the splitter button a million times in low range. That's just my opinion of course. After using the H-Shifter and clutch, I just can't go back to sequential!
Darth Wazawai
I use 13/18, preference is 18. Mostly because of being Canadian, not the best idea for a 18 wheeler to have less than 13 during winter And I use a keyboard, so enabling skip to neutral button is a must Signature removed by a wondering ghost
