Are you sure you are in multiplayer? Do you see any writing in any corner of your screen when you launch?

Do you have any overlays or programs open that would use Y/or F9 key to do something?

 

Have you maybe binded the Y key to do something else in your options? (Try going into options and resetting all keys to default)

 

Also, are you running the game in mode DirectX?
