RayRay5 Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Suggestion Name: Reducing amount of reckless, bad and troll drivers by intorducing a "license exam"Suggestion Description: Before joining the multiplayer servers for the first time, you should do an exam on driving (theory and practice) which will be added to your mp-acc.Any example images: Nope. (Maybe in future)Why should it be added?: We had the discussion on the ETS-TS and concluded that we could remove the bad drivers and the number of reports by introducing a license exam. Because all the trolls and reckless drivers would have to do such an exam and had to spend some time, which they probably won't spend for doing their (troll-) things, in a single truck environment (=training Server), before entering a multitruck environment (=driving Server). Additionally those very fresh newbes would need to have a bit of singleplayer experience as it is recommended which would make the roads more safety and a better and relaxing fun for all other (and also serious driving) players. Of course this would put a penalty to all (once-in-a-time- and very -young-) players, but imho we had too many bad experiences - especially in the last few days. But those who really want to play ets-mp on a serious base, would invest their time anyway. 1 "Just because others break rules, does not grant you the permission to break the rules as well" Please drive respectful on the servers. StuartD Posted December 21, 2014 Report Posted December 21, 2014 Did you consider how this would run? If it is an automated system then as soon as a way to cheat or pass all the time comes out the system is pointless. If the system is a manual one run by the administrators it would reduce the amount of administrators that are in-game and dealing with reports. IMO this is useless as people will always find a way around. STVTC Founder & Management / TruckNet Developer
RayRay5 Posted December 21, 2014 Author Report Posted December 21, 2014 Well, that's the trickiest part of the system. Actually I haven't thought of it that much, but I think that there will be some way to make it as safe as possible. GeekPolak Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 The biggest issue is that plenty of people here, do not have drivers license in real life. We should think about "barrier of entry" / "white list", for this community. Choose a few people with experience, and have them administer some kind of driving exam for new members, before being allowed to play on the server. We have plenty of servers with low population to do that (#EU2 Freeroam). This would lower player numbers for maybe a month or so, but in the end, we would get rid of all the people who come in here just to cause mayhem. 1 In-game nick: GeekPolak Youtube Channel - Map editor tutorials for American Truck Simulator and more. konfig0 Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 This was suggested on the old forums, it was rejected, shall see what happens with this one. I wonder if you look both ways when you cross my mind.. Be slow to critize, be fast to appreciate.
zyprexia Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 That is not gonna work. Come on, everybody here knows what a speed limit is. In the whole of Europe is maximum speed limit for trucks is 80kph due to European laws. And yes, those even override the 60mph (97kph) limit in the UK. Only trucks above 3.5T and up to 7.5T (total weight - e.g. truck, trailer and cargo) can do 97kph. None the less the suggestion forum is flooded by request to remove the speed limiter imposed by the #EU1 server. So ignore the rules is intentional. We also know that you're not supposed the ram other trucks or drive on the wrong side. We all know the rules. But some players are just ignoring them, because it's more 'fun'. So any test won't have any effect. Other real world rules are very hard to implement by the ETS2MP team. Think about using the beacon on a non-exceptional load of horn spamming. The horn is only on your truck to warn others by immediate danger. Not to greet other truckers. Or do you guys honk at every car that is passing by. The proper way to greet someone you KNOW is by flashing you're lights. I have to add that even that is only allowed if you don't blind other drivers.. 510 Horses and one lucky bird at work Simulators: Prepar3d V4, X-Plane 11, DCS 1.5 + 2.x, ETS2, ATS, Farming Simulator 17, Omsi 1 + 2 System: Intel i7-6700K @ 4700Mhz, 32GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX, GTX970, HP LP2475w monitor (1920x1200) Devices: Logitech G27, SKRS Shifter, CH Products Throttle Quadrant, Trustmaster Hotas Joystick, TrackIR Storage: 2 x SM961 - 250GB (raid 0), Samsung 850 pro 1TB disk, Samsung 850 EVO 2TB disk.
skullscar Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 there are way to many kids that never tried to drive a real car, ofc they have no idea about rules about driving. they start to play and just drive without thinking what they are doing
GeekPolak Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Test will have an effect. We will simply not allow them to play on the server, if they happen to fail. I'm also surprised that people rarely get perma bans for intentional ramming at Europort. You will never weed out trolls, without giving perma bans. PursuitGamer6 Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 There are some rackless drivers, and a 'training' would be good, but some people doesn't have an steering wheel. So they DO drive more reckless...
RayRay5 Posted December 22, 2014 Author Report Posted December 22, 2014 @PusuitGamer6: Neither am I driving with a steering wheel., but with a keyboard. With a bit of training you will master that, too. EG. I know someone who started playing two days ago and even started directly in multiplayer, driving with keyboard. He drove very good using keyboard only. @Mikee89: Those who really want to drive would try again and by learning, they would get better and therefore the streets would get even more safe. @skullscar: and that is one of the reasons to teach them basic rules of driving which would effect them in getting more careful and they would even learn something for the real life. DrToxic Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 Scania Truck Driving Simulator? - trolls won't spend (more) money to do their dirty work.. and this is (potentially) more money to SCS, so to sweeten them up to work with the fellas making ETS2MP.everybody (except thy admins, of course) should have to complete the driving courses on ScaniaTDS before being allowed on the servers. It took me 3 hours to complete, and some of the challenges did take a couple of attempts. Especially reversing around courses!I also wish there were some more interesting roads on ETS2, like the mountain road challenge in ScaniaTDS where there's a chance of falling off the edge, Buuuuuuuuut this is a suggestion for SCS themselves. @PusuitGamer6: Neither am I driving with a steering wheel., but with a keyboard. With a bit of training you will master that, too. EG. I know someone who started playing two days ago and even started directly in multiplayer, driving with keyboard. I've just been downgraded from an xbox 360 controller to a Logitech Extreme3D Joystick due to the wriing on the xbox controller taking a turn for the worse.enough practice will get you driving like a professional no matter what controls you're using. 1
Happy Rogue Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 I don't get it surly everyone knows the basics, there would be nothing stopping them to drive correctly then soon as they get on a map server go wild. I think there should be a time limiter on how long a player can spend in a server a day until they are disconnected and joined to a free Rome server. For example a new player can spend 2 1/2 hours a day on eu1 then is moved to free Rome. After a week of no kicks or bans he his given an extra 1 hour, making people earn there time on the server. If you get kicked for stuff other than AFK then you lose 10 mins every time unless you are given them back by the admits. Hopefully that way trolls and such would gradually decline
skullscar Posted December 22, 2014 Report Posted December 22, 2014 sorry des but deciding how much hours can someone play on a server is a bad call. i have no job and i spend around 8-12 hours each day playing pc games. and in the last few days i played for 28 hours on eu1 server. why shoud someone tell me how long can i play on eu1 and then force me to play on lame eu2 ?? its my free time and i want to spend it on eu1 server. or i woud simply be playing sp and not online 1
Happy Rogue Posted December 23, 2014 Report Posted December 23, 2014 You are right it is your game but is also there mod, I play a lot of the mod and I'm sure if the "play probably for more game time" was part of the mod people would behave or fave having there time on the game reduced daily, I'd be happy to then after a while the proper players would have built up enough time to play as long as they want, yes it would be slow at the start but you can't fix things such as rammer and such overnight.

Like skullscar, I'm not lucky enough to have a place of employment to go to. It just so happens that I spend less time on EU1 because of the trolls.. Go and look for my posts in the reporting thread. (Pages 11 - 13) Requiring me to spend a month of sundays to 'earn' my time on EU1 again so I can drive from Aberdeen to Hungary and back in a day? I'd rather uninstall the mod and be done with it. and Des, you're right. everybody DOES know the rules, most of them are self explanitory. -1
