Suggestion Name: Incentives for donating

Suggestion Description: Self explanatory really there would be added incentives for people whom donate to ets2mp. The simpler of ideas could be colored usernames in the chat,

Any example images: Afraid not.

Why should it be added?: Simply due to the fact the servers are lagging behind the whole time, this was evident in several of the convoys and general driving today. I'm presuming that one of the only restraints of upgrading would be the money/lack of funds for it. How do you get money from a mod? Obviously it isn't the same as getting a game, buying it on steam etc. Really the only way of funding it would be from donations or advertising on the website. The latter of which would be annoying to many, so it would be preferred to avoid it. The leaves donating. ( Unless the project gets funding from SCS, which I doubt.) In order to get people to donate, they want something in return, (Which if you think about it defeats the object of donating, but there you go, that's people for ya) Though some people will do it simply to help out.

This probably doesn't make any sense, but I'm not very good at this kind of thing.

If I'm honest the only reason why this may not be able to added is if SCS don't permit you to make money from part of their game, though judging from the mod-ablity of the game I'm not sure would be the case.

Thank you for reading!

This has been suggested a couple of times before and I do think its a good idea, but for some reason the developers havent done it yet. It would definitely help with upgrading the servers and will also benefit the players.

Yes This Is A Rainbow, Problem?

We are walking on rope about it - If we get something in return for donating....it won't be a donation anymore  and SCS' won't be happy that we earn cash through their product

About support from SCS, the only time I remember them "supporting" us was back when Scandinavia was being released and they gave beta access to our devs - some may remember that it got supported in MP right after its release

in my eyes They just don't care about us and look at us as test for what (not) to do in their MP

Wait, are you saying they're developing their own MP? And this is like some kind of guinea pig? Oh, great! That's just wonderful <_<

I believe that we could use some incentives... Maybe not a retribution for your donation, but let's say (as a example) a poster, or ads saying something like "Thanks to your donations, we can keep the servers running!" or "Donating, is the best way to say 'thank you' to our devs!".

You are not forcing people there, but you're letting them know how valuable their donations could be! ;)

SCS should see the mod is keeping people playing the game and even buying to play the mod, I'm not saying they should send money but host servers the devs could use, and if they host the servers they get all the info and could even use it for the world of trucks implemention or something else.

I'm surprised SCS hasn't taken more off a role in the mod considering it is there game, idk SCS seam friendly maybe SCS would allow the devs to charge a monthly fee I mean if you say there is near 6000 players on I'm sure they could stretch to 25p monthly to play the mod its not much but times it by 6000 and you have£4000 and I'm sure active players will be over 10,000 players idk

^ Exactly, I don't know why SCS don't just take a percentage of the donations, Like 10-15% or whatever the rate normally is.

if It wasn't for ETS2MP, I wouldn't be playing ETS2 anymore. It got boring a long time ago in single player. That being said, Without the mod, they wouldn't have received my purchases of DLCs. This mod is making them money, I have no doubt about it.

In my opinion, if there was no multiplayer mod, SCS wouldn't sell their game. I'm sure, most of the player buying this game just because of the "multiplayer" system. You know, single player is too boring and in order to have fun, you need to find different mods etc, but even this won't be enough after some time passed.

So, again imo, SCS have to support these guys. Admins, moderators, developers and so on.  If today, in the year of 2015, they have the ability to sell a game which uses "Prism3D" engine, this is the success of MP team. I think, Prism3D is lastly used in ancient Egypt   :D

I agree, for many of us we just bought the original game for the multiplayer, and more of us bought DLCs so we could drive around more places with friends.etc

Maybe you could incorporate something like we have on the TS, if you donate you get a 'VIP' rank, the VIP rank gives you special ability which enable you to do certain things other users don't do, for example, quick travelling using the dev console or like the suggestion said, having a certain colour on the users tag to signify they are VIP. You could also add special VIP zones just for VIPs in cities, for example a VIP only non-collision zone, however, I really don't know if that is plausible.

I understand this could be a problem but lets face it, at the end of the day running three servers isn't very cheap.

How about PRO MODS then?

ProMods is a payware  map mod for ETS2.

Besides if MP took donations to pay for better hardware, that's not making a profit, MP would be a Not-For-Profit Organisation, taking donations for a specific purpose (in this case, to buy hardware) to keep the community going, theres not profit in that so you wouldn't be making money of it and SCS couldn't touch you

^ Yeah, but again, we are walking in circles: As FirestarteR93 said: If we (the ETS2MP staff) get something in return for donating....it won't be a donation anymore and SCS' won't be happy that we earn cash through their product

This has been suggested before however I do agree because I posted one of these my idea is

On forums you get a "donator" rank.

The amount of money you donate changes the color higher you donate it will be gold and so on.

V.i.p privileges: (packages)

This is another idea multiplayer will set a amount you buy that package with the privileges (multiplayer will alter these packs I'm just noting down some stuff that can be added)

Vip members will jump the report que so vip will have their reports responded to first.

Vip members can have 3 chances to shorten MINOR BANS

These won't be cheap though because everyone will have them however they could do a "cheap package" "mid range" and "Ultimate"

These packages will be set out more by admins like I'm saying the cheapest they are the less stuff you get the higher you are the better things you get out of that package.

Or here's another one

You choose what you want in your little basket it comes up with a price that price you pay to get what you want -(simple and ideal)

^^^ The definition of a donation is the following:

A donation is a gift given by physical or legal persons, typically for charitable purposes and/or to benefit a cause. Donations are given without return consideration. This lack of return consideration means that, in common law, an agreement to make a donation is an "imperfect contract void for want of consideration."

Source: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donation

That being said, constrasts with your proposal :o You wouldn't be donating for a charitable purpose, but you'll do it for the benefits. Right?

^^

I will donate to heart foundation when I'm older.

Euro truck multiplayer isn't a charity it's a game.

I'm not chucking away money for nothing at a game, if I would get something in return I would donate but not now. I'd rather donate a £10 to heart foundation than £10 to a game.

Exactly, the lucrative aspect is present there =/

SCS would charge against the MP guys, if they knew that they are getting profits.

Like the other comments said before, SCS hasn't shown much "support" to this mod. And if they did, I haven't seen it.

(PS: I'm aware of the dev's early access to the Scandinavia DLC).

I have to agree with those who say that they wouldn't get the game if it wasn't for the mod. (Considering that I'm somekind of "refugee". My world used to be NFSW, - a now defunct title - but that's another story).
