Barbosa Posted December 4, 2014 Report Posted December 4, 2014 If you can put speed limits for each type of road, would be good. Example: Simple roads, 90km / h Autobahns, 120 km / h Would stop the complaints of speedlimiter. I do not know how that works this type of modification, but would like a response, it is possible to do? ...
El Barto Posted December 4, 2014 Report Posted December 4, 2014 +1 I believe there should be somekind of "dynamic?" speed limits. Maybe something like: When in * cities/towns 50 km/h Max speed *Simple roads 90 km/h *Autobahns (or maybe empty roads) 110 km/h Retired Team Member // Report // Ban appeal // Ingame rules // Support //

[BE/NL] Vice Posted December 4, 2014 Report Posted December 4, 2014 I wouldn't mind this but seems like no admin agrees on this, so it probably won't change.
ANTH888YA Posted December 4, 2014 Report Posted December 4, 2014 +1 on this looks like would be a pretty good thing to have in my opinion but in busy areas speed limit should be low so no one speeds and hits someone in the back. By the way you need to follow the format for suggestions. ANTH888YA - Anthony
eXcelon5 Posted December 4, 2014 Report Posted December 4, 2014 -1 The server wants to promote realism, and trucks do not have dynamic speed limiters in real life; in my personal opinion that doesn't matter, but in the eyes of the devs it probably does. Also, 90 kph is still unsafe for most "simple" roads, all in-city limits are between 48 and 64, and the highest highway limit for trucks has been 97 or 113 so 90 kph is pretty suitable. Finally, admins made very clear no changes are to be made to limiter so the whole beating a dead horse thing is kinda true 1
Crazyforiphone Posted December 4, 2014 Report Posted December 4, 2014 1-Wong format 2-speed limit isn't changing. Go on free roam if you want to play with unlimited speed.
Romero Posted December 4, 2014 Report Posted December 4, 2014 Example for cars: Simple roads, 90km / h Autobahns, 120 km / h Autobahns without speed limit, 1000 km / h Example for trucks: Simple roads, <90km / h Autobahns, <90 km / h All road, <90 km / h Questions? and stop posting it again and again. speed limiter wont be changed, for that you have freeroam server. At moderators place i would already add a rule about forbidding to start topics about speed limiters. Why you cant understand it once and for all its not a racing game, the speed your truck moves isn't the main point of the game, speed limits wouldn't changed. maybe for a one small step closer to realism, but it will. irl some trucks have speedlimiter disabled, but if he will be caught with that in Europe he will suffer a big punishment. Want to move faster and risk like risk irl truck drivers? use speedhack, but if you will be caught, you know what you will suffer. 2

This already happened on the original forums back in the days that the limiter was first added to the game. God it makes me sick whenever I see a topic about the limiter now because the original forums were just absolutely inundated with them to the point that if a topic was created about it, that person was just outright banned. I think that needs to happen yet again. ────── ▄▌█▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀█ --- ─── ▄▄██▌█ BIG BAD HAULERS █ ▄▄▄▌▐██▌█ THE OWNER OPERATOR GROUP █ ---- ███████▌█▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄▄█ ▀(@)▀▀▀▀▀▀▀(@)(@)▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀▀(@)(@)▀▀▀ ---- Want to drive your own rig with your own paint and live the virtual owner operator life? Asterisk Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 In a game like this where ramming and running people off the road runs rampant, it's just not safe. With the limiter, say you're going max speed while carrying a load and someone tries to take you out and misses, they will have NO CHANCE to ever catch up to you and knock you out. Without the limiter, it would be very easy for someone without a load to catch up to you going at the maximum speed the truck can handle will pulling a 25t load for example.

Granted, they can still ram you using what I call ambush tactics. There was a guy named Dorky or something yesterday who rammed me doing this. They pull over to the side of the road and as you pass by them they wait till the very last second and then they gun it into you. Very frustrating because you can tell that it is very intentional... But at least gone are the days when you'd be driving with a trailer and three Volvos with the 750 HP engines all surround you and play ping pong with you. 'Mix Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 Not going to change. Developers even said that it is NOT possible to change the speedlimiter scriptwise. Its 90 or nothing. - I'm not saying I'm Wonder Woman; I'm just saying no one has ever seen me and Wonder Woman in the same room together.
thumbthrower Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 The speed limiter will not change on EU#1 ! It will stick at 90km/h and if you "wanna go fast" then people should use EU#2 or Need for speed. IRL modern trucks (such as the trucks portrayed in the game) have a 90 km/h speed limiter and so removing this would remove the realism and so the simulation part of Euro Truck Simulator (2). Get used to the limiter guys sticking at 90km/h because IRL the truck speed limiter does not change from 90km/h to 50km/h when you enter a town.

That's true, but in real life you have cars driving too. In ets2 you can sometimes be driving on a lonely road for a while, where driving 90km/h just doesn't make sense. Of course you can meet other players, and I'm not saying it should get removed, definitely not, but I think 110-120 on highways wouldn't be that bad seeing how often you are just driving on your own with almost no one close to you.
thumbthrower Posted December 5, 2014 Report Posted December 5, 2014 I understand where you are coming from but the whole point of the speed-limiter is for the realism (and to limit damage done by trolls). And just remember on Christmas morning when you open presents from Father Christmas that somewhere, some poor lorry driver had to drive all night, all alone with no-one around, to bring your parents the presents that they put in you stocking "from Santa" (ps. Hope I haven't ruined Christmas for you! and if so Bah Humbug! ) !
your_destiny Posted December 6, 2014 Report Posted December 6, 2014 They said that they cant change the speed of speedlimiter. Only 90km\h or nothing
zyprexia Posted December 6, 2014 Report Posted December 6, 2014 I support this suggestion if someone can show/tell me European (from Ireland to Russia, From Norway to Cyprus) country where trucks are allowed to drive above 90kph. Remember. The game is called European truck SIMULATOR. Want to race? Buy a F1 game. Want to create mayhem in the streets, just wait another few weeks for GTA5. If it's up to me, I would like to see that the maximum limit is set per country road 'type' so it's more in line with the real world. Still, want to race your truck. Use the FreeRoam server or goto singleplayer mode.. 510 Horses and one lucky bird at work Simulators: Prepar3d V4, X-Plane 11, DCS 1.5 + 2.x, ETS2, ATS, Farming Simulator 17, Omsi 1 + 2 System: Intel i7-6700K @ 4700Mhz, 32GB DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX, GTX970, HP LP2475w monitor (1920x1200) Devices: Logitech G27, SKRS Shifter, CH Products Throttle Quadrant, Trustmaster Hotas Joystick, TrackIR Storage: 2 x SM961 - 250GB (raid 0), Samsung 850 pro 1TB disk, Samsung 850 EVO 2TB disk.
JellyBreath Posted December 6, 2014 Report Posted December 6, 2014 I'd rather simulate the speeds than be forced to travel at a maximum speed, towns specifically.I would like to be able to, if empty, speed through towns because why the heck not. LKW Logistics GmbH CEO If my post has helped you out, feel free to like it.
Tandre Posted December 6, 2014 Report Posted December 6, 2014 Just stop it ! Go into the freeroam servers isteand. Okey im with you that it can feel slow in 90 on an emty highway. I was disapointed when i heard that they should put speedlimiter in but i like it its so few rammer now. Hope you understand Happy tucking and a verry merry chrismas /740
thumbthrower Posted December 6, 2014 Report Posted December 6, 2014 Because why the hell would you want to drive at full speed through a town?! And anyway if you want to drive through London at 90km/h then the speed limiter will not stop you (but please don't) And anyway http://cga.ct.gov/2005/rpt/2005-R-0814.htm. All the eu countries have a speed limit of 90Km/h or less to all heavy goods vehicles.

TheWired Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 i have to say that lane restrictions are more reasonable than any tiered speed limits. why? it forces trucks and other vehicles to maintain a certain speed in traffic. where i am from on most highways trucks are just plain banned from the 2 left lanes on roads with more than 3 lanes and banned form the far left lane on roads with exactly 3. even then driving from state to state most truck on the roads are in the right lane. this still does not stop 2 trucks from jack knifing back to back on a rainy night. i personally think it is more dangerous to be going slower than traffic regardless of whether or not its above or below the speed limit of "regular vehicles." there is a reason oh US highways there is a minimum speed limit. and like ThumbThrower linked to. you get more "Car into rear of truck" incidents when you limit the speed of trucks to less than the speed of cars, you can probably guess why that happens. then when you don't you get more of other types of accidents with trucks and cars. this all forces you to make a decision, do you limit trucks to ludicrously slow speeds, or to you restrict trucks to one lane and force them to go the speed of the slowest vehicle. i personally agree with the latter but that is just me. the reason about enforcing the limiter is fine but i think a permanent ban for disruptive behavior would be a bigger threat. but that is the admin in me speaking as i don't have control of the server i can't enforce that. and since the solution only reduced the problem the only answer is that so. finally i have to say it's a game, even if you want realism it is just a game, don't take it too seriously.
