Since I installed GTAV my X360 gamepad isn't recognized in ETS2 or ETS2MP

McDodge34 [FR QC]

Question

I'm not sure what happened, but since I've installed GTAV my X360 gamepad doesn't want to work with ETS2 or ETS2MP anymore, its detected since its available to choose as controller in the game, but I can't assign anything to it anymore, and it doesn't work at all, like if it was not there, but it works flawlessly on all other games except ETS2 and ETS2MP.

Have you tried to go into 'Controls' and looked at the 'Controller' settings? It should be like 'Keyboard', 'Keyboard+Mouse' etc, plug in the controller before you start the game and then when you have, start the game and see if it pops up, any luck? Please do let me know.

Cheers.

So far no luck, I totally uninstalled the drivers for the controller, restarted my PC, plugged the controller back it reinstalled everything correctly, I can play GTAV, Just Cause 2, Saints Row The thrid no problem, but its like not working anymore in ETS2 or ETS2MP, I suspect that's because I used something to get the controller vibrations in ETS2 so I uninstalled that but still no luck, next step, uninstalling ETS2 and cleaning it, then reinstall. I see something funny, whenever I start the games were the controller works fine, the green light on it comes alive, before that the light was on all the time.

do you have the wireless or wired version?

What windows do you have?

do you also use Xbox 360 Accessories Software?

I don't think its relevant to the question but here's the answers, just need to specify 1 thing, I'M a computer tech support, so this kind of stuff, I tend to know what I'm doing.

Its a wired X360 controller, didn't want to spend 69,99$ for a wireless one and 79,99$ for the wireless adapter to plug it into my PC

Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bits.

This is my only accessories, I don't own a X360 anymore (I had one in the past but its dead to RROD.

you asked here for help but when i try to help you, you write you are a Tech supporter and know what you are doing. So why do you ask if you dont want help?

Sorry, its just because I did all the basic troubleshooting tips I could find on the web, and nothing seems to fix this issue, its getting on my nerves right now because the controller works #1 in all the games I play except ETS2, like if there was something wrong with the game, but it works if I drive with the keyboard which is a real pain.

Just reinstalled the whole ETS2 from scratch, again same problem, gamepad isn't reacting, no green light on the Xbox center button, nothing like if the gamepad wasn't connected, but again works #1 in all other games, I give up for now, wanted to continue doing some loads in ETS2MP, but if I can't drive anymore, I'm not risking driving with the keyboard with other players around.

I would really hope to not have to do this, the game is 60.6GB to download again, I really want to avoid this step at all cost

You don't have an installer for it?

If you can't, then try to take GTA on an external hard disk, and continue steps with the support!

Problem soloved?

Not exactly how I would have solved this one, but for now, it works, don't understand why on my laptop, it works flawlessly in ETS2, but not anymore on my PC, checked the drivers, they are exactly the same version so not sure what is wrong since I can play all other games with my X360 controller fine on my PC, just ETS2 that doesn't seem to behave correctly.

Finally found the culprit, its that thing that enable rumble and vibrations in ETS2, I swore I had uninstalled that thing before but it wasn't done, now to find something similar that would work the right way would be awesome : http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=165238623
