How to overtake

Can I bump this:

 

 

I was on the autostrada when someone joins from the right. I moved over one lane to overtake them as they were still getting up to speed. I accelerated from 80~90 to give myself & them more room so I can pull back into the right lane & so they can then overtake me if they wish. Suddenly after giving at least 75~100m room to pull into the right, they are on the horn trying to overtake on the very righthand edge of the road! Then a torrent of abuse & an impact to my trailer.

 

Please can we watch the above video on how to overtake properly, which also highlights how NOT to come right up someone's chufter before hurling yourself out into the left lane to overtake.

People're joining highways usually at Mach 1, cut all the lanes straight away and hit the guard rail on the opposite side.

What you should do is not move over to the left, but slow down adn let them do their thing in front of you, where you can see and avoid them.

They were slower than me, plus as I am already on the main road I have priority. They are the ones who should take care. They should definitely NOT try to undertake on a non-lane.

to be honest is common sense if someone wanna join the highway you should move over too left lane too allow them to merge in safely.

That is wat is do here in my country when i see someone join the highway in real life, so i do it also in the game if there is room i just switch lanes.

TruckersMP and common sense? Sorry, it's just the way it is, I am not newcomer whos expectations are overly optimistic, I have seen things unimaginable and I expect always the worst possible outcome.

I almost never move over, unless the player joining is cosiderably slower than me (never over 80-90km/k or 105km/h in ATS), which is maybe 1 out of 100, or I can safely get in front of them with enough space to merge back in.

When they are same speed or faster, I just slow down, a bit of coasting usually suffice, braking is not required. This is especially important when I need to take next exit and don't want to end up being cut off, similar "tactics" applies when lanes splits - I change lanes early, before anyone behind can iterfere.
