SCS ARE SPOILING US WITH NEW CONTENT

Tonight, SCS released the Renault E-Tech T, and let's face it, once TMP Support is about, we will see nothing but the new truck for the next month.

I am of the understanding that this truck is not officially ownable, however with mods, and i'm sure a bit of save-editing, the truck will become a regular sight on the roads.

So, let's see if we can use this opportunity to discuss this. This truck adds a whole new mechanic to the game in the form of EV's, and I feel like this opens up doors to future possibilities, modding, and much more.

 

Firstly, is the truck good? What's its up and downsides? I'm usually quite against Renault because eww french, but maybe this is promising?

What does this allow for modding? Are going to be seeing more EV Truck brands such as "Nikola" be modded into the game?
Will we see a more common theme of EV Charging stations added throughout the map? How many? Where? Old Places?

How would it be possible to save-edit Ownership of this truck, to then use it freely in TMP?

 

Not really asking how I could prevent it from running out of charge, although I'm assuming I can just use Truck-Simulator-Tools program (that I use to save-edit most things). I just don't know how to save edit modifications, or anything that's actually within the files (as I assume this would be).

I imagine SCS is going to modify a lot of the already existing rest area/fuel station prefabs to include an electric charger somewhere to make it possible to recharge the vehicles, but in the newer areas of the map its not so easy since a lot of it isn't full prefabs anymore.

It's 100% possible to own the truck via save editing, but without the places to recharge the truck you pretty much have to save edit or use the emergency refueling option for a recharge.

It's also possible to put the electric motors into any of the existing trucks via save editing, which means we can have other currently non-ev trucks be electric. Range may be a bit of an issue for some of the trucks, though...

 

Naturally, there's always going to be a group of people not accepting new technology, but that's fine as they have their own reasons.

 

I do like the idea of having full electric vehicles in the game officially though, and since the hard work of getting the vehicles to mostly work is out of the way I imagine the rest of electric trucks are down to licensing and adding the ability to recharge.

If you all read the blog post & watched the stream you will know it is quick jobs only. There is a 'mod' out there but every time you want to refuel you have to go to a service centre & change the engine to a diesel, fill-up, then change it back. Ridiculous situation. We all have to understand the direction & method SCS are taking here.

 

Myself I have to get home on single player first but then will take some quick jobs to try it out. Looking forward to it.

They did say it a while ago, i think save editing is possible tho.

 

On the other hand, SCS is currently working on 3 expansions so it will take a lot of time for them to put charging stations everywhere, tho i agree i wouldn't mind being just able to "refuel it" at a gas station in the meantime!

My Electric Renault on TMP https://imgur.com/a/7FfmudS   the small diesel Renault is basically the same as the Electric so most parts are interchangeable including the Renault tunning DLC

SCS have already said the reason you cannot buy the truck is because they do not have the infrastructure in place to charge the vehicle's and the truck manufacturers do not want to fill electric truck using diesel pumps as its unrealistic, SCS will have to edit the whole map to add charging points

How did you get it in? I don't understand save-editing enough to figure it out.

If your unable to figure out the save editing for getting this truck, I would recommend checking out the steam workshop. 

 

There are alot of E-Tech mods already accessible and easy to use.

A mod is tempting, but if the mod stops working after a basegame update there's a risk you could lose the truck.

l really like the Renault E-Tech T electric car, but one drawback is that it cannot run long distances because it will run out of power halfway through the journey.

It doesn't run out of power, it runs out of energy. Don't confuse the two. To be honest if you drive efficiently & make good use of the regen & the ability to freeroll, you can eke more than 500km range out of it which is far more than the current-longest jobs available. It's fun.

how did you get your livery to work. I been trying to add a livery but it keeps messing up.

Hey buddy you just have to buy the small cab Diesel Renault T truck and put the Livery you want on it, then copy that and paste it on the Renault E tech one, through save editing. here is an example of what you need to copy from the Diesel Renault
