Suggestion Name: In-game reports shouldn't time out / @Somehow lucky remove Web reports

Suggestion Description: With the new announcement of their update to their game moderation strategy, moderators will now focus more on In-game reports.

Any example images: No

Why should it be added?: There are several reasons why this would be much better:

  • Firstly, it would be easier for players to report therefore encouraging them to report therefore increasing the probability of a rule breaker to get banned
  • Secondly, if all reports were switched to In-game, it would be much easier for Game Moderators to visualize the context of the situation therefore removing the possibility for players to hide certain events.
  • Thirdly, this would stop anyone willing to manipulate or retouch evidence.

Furthermore there would have to be a system similar to the current web one where if a user creates a false report the number of reports that user will be able to create will be limited.

If you have any tips that can add to it? Comment down below.

I disagree because I'm sure it won't work. It will get worse; there will be a lot of in-game reports 10000+.

It would be more complicated to create a system similar to a web report within the game. Additionally, assuming the report was handled incorrectly and you are no longer able to create in-game reports, how would you be able to complain about this in that case?

As I had mentioned earlier, there will be a limited number of reports per user to avoid such issues.

To answer your question users will be able to complain using the feedback system of the website.

To complain, you need evidence, so it's the same thing. What it is today is fine.

As seen from the GMM's POV, they have a 2 minute replay feature to catch the offender in the act and respond accordingly.

IDK why you put me and a failed ping in the title.

If a report doesn't time out, it will waste staff's time when they can't see the offense you reported them for, 6 hours ago.

@Somehow Lucky Why would it waste the staff's time if the reports don't time out? And why wouldn't the staff be able to see the offense I report them for, whatsoever the timing?

The staff's replay feature only shows the last 2 minutes from when it's reported. Anything beyond that is impossible. Hence, wasting their time when there are bigger issues to worry about.

The report tells them the offense. If they don't see it, they can't ban for the reported offense,

It would be like you waiting 7 days to report an offender. But, you didn't get the clip in time.

For each report sent in-game, a "demo" is saved containing data that allows the GM to "recreate" the incident. When (if) the report is claimed, the GM will use these data to watch what happened, like a video, but they can change the POV in order to watch the incident from different angles, distances, etc.

This is precisely why these reports time out and are automatically deleted. The server can only store up to a certain amount of data, like any computer. When that maximum is reached, either you remove the oldest data so new data can be stored or you simply can't store anything else.

Could this be solved? Sure, by adding more storage to the server. But how much? Would it be worth it, since storage isn't precisely free? And if they did this, who's to say that in-game reports wouldn't take days/weeks to be solved? The current overload problem in the web reporting system would be happening in the in-game system too.

It's not appropriate, it's going to be so many reports, it's going to be millions of reports, it's just not going to be able to handle it. However, you can extend the timeout period

Hello @sportdex,

Thanks for your suggestion! In an ideal world, all in-game reports would be reviewed. However, the volume of reports is way too high for this to be feasible.

Therefore, we will have to decline your idea.

Have a great day!
