Patreon Suggestion - Speed Display options

Hi! Peanut here,

 

Just a suggestion for us patreons, GMs etc. have an option already, but for us [Patreon Members] to turn on a "Speedo Meter/Telemetry in our tab so it displays on top of peoples trucks just like f11 see photo provided.

So when I am in convoy I can match there speed instead of asking as that would give risk of crashing etc. I think it serves it purpose and people like myself like supporting and want more features I see it would be very helpful.

I totally agree and support this idea. You can then check your speed with someone in front of you or you can also recognize a hacker.

I support this suggestion. When we are driving in front of the other car, displaying their speed can better allow us to adjust our own speed based on it. If we notice a sudden drop in the speed of the preceding car while displaying the speed, it can give us a faster response time. And without speed display, we have to judge the speed change of the other party based on the reduction of the distance between cars, which will result in a longer reaction time and a higher risk of accidents.

That's a great idea. But I think it should be introduced for all players, not just patreon.

This feature certainly contributes to more safety in road traffic. Especially inexperienced drivers can benefit from it.

 

Experienced players and those seeking for realism however will be happy to have the option of turning it off.

Personally, I'd probably keep it turned off outside of convoys for immersion, but can totally see how it can be helpful.
I'd even prefer making the feature available for all players and not just patreons.

I believe the Patron perks should only be cosmetic based and include minor quality of life improvements such as the extended AFK timer. Locking such a useful and important feature behind the monthly subscription doesn't sound right in my personal opinion but I'd love to see this become available for all.

I agree this is. If this is added, it was previously nearly impossible, for but GM to approve a web report against speedhacker if my car is moving slowly, but with the addition of this it can deal with.

It seems to me that a similar suggestion was already made on this topic and that it was accepted by the staff. I may not be entirely sure, but I remember seeing this request go through and possibly being accepted in relation to this idea.

This is an amazing idea!

It would have so many positive benefits, alow me:

1. Avoiding sudden stops: If you see another player braking/decelerating rapidly, you are able to ajust the speed way more earlier and avoid rear-end collisions

2. Improved safety: For example, if you see another truck going much faster than you, you can control your speed and/or making turns and reducing the risk of accidents

3. Overtaking: If you are overtaking yourself, you could check if the player acclerates and prevents you from overtaking

4. Convoys: Knowing the speeds of other players can help maintain a consistent speed, to adjust your speed to stay within the convoy

5. Optimized Driving: Knowing when another player speeds up/slows down could help making decisions in acclerating, braking, overtaking or changing lanes.

This is a good idea, it can definitely help the fleet ensure that everyone is driving at the same speed
