"The underlying connection was closed: Unknown error while receiving"

Hello everyone, 

 

with this announcement we want to let you know that we have received a high number of Support inquiries due to the error mentioned above. It looks like this:

Our Supporters, Support Managers, and Developers are currently working hard to find a solution for this that would work in all cases, however, so far reinstalling Windows has been the only solution that worked in the majority of cases dealt with by us. 

 

Almost all users who face this issue use Avira Antivirus but uninstalling it has in many cases not led to the problem being solved.

 

If you get the above-mentioned error message when trying to start TruckersMP, we suggest the following steps:

 

1) Remove Avira Security completely from your computer. After that, do a full reinstallation of TruckersMP.  

2) Make sure that you use the most recent version of the .NET Framework. You can find the recommended version here: https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet-framework/net48

3) Check if there are any available Windows updates and install them.

4) Create a text file called tmp.txt and write inside the following:

 

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramework\v4.0.30319]

"SchUseStrongCrypto"=dword:00000001

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\.NETFramework\v4.0.30319]

"SchUseStrongCrypto"=dword:00000001

 

When saving the file, change the name of it to “tmp.reg”. After saving, run the executed file and agree to the changes that it will make to the registry. Restart the PC and try to update the launcher.

 

5) Reset your Windows system completely and make sure to save all important files before doing that.

 

These are all recommendations we can currently give you. If none of these help or if you do not want to reset your Windows system, you have to wait for us to find a different solution for this issue or to fix the issue altogether.
