[REJECTED] [Ingame]What is desync? Desync explained!

Hello and welcome to my guide about what desync is, You might experience desync whilst playing on our network.  So what is desync? Desync occurs when you on your screen see something entirely different than that another player on his screen sees. A common example of desync is when you are being overtaken by someone and they merge in just a bit too early leaving you almost no room even though the road is clear and they have plenty of room to do it safely. Most likely on his screen he is actually much further ahead than the player is on your screen. This is one example of desync. Another example is when you are driving on the road and someone is tailgating you and suddenly appears to have crashed into your bumper eventhough you are unharmed on your screen. What most likely happened is that someone experienced a lagspike and you were stopped on his screen even though you were still driving on your screen. This also is desync as the player behind you sees you stopped while you are driving on your screen. Another example can be when for example you and another player are travelling in opposite directions. Most likely you will experience this form of desync whilst on a rural road. What may happen is that the oncoming user appears to go outside of their lane. Now you need to be very carefull here! Not always when someone leaves their lane it is desync! However if they appear to ram you but yet they drive off anyway without being harmed most likely desync was in place where the other user was in their own lane on their screen but due to their poor wifi connection they appear to be slightly outside of their lane. However if you got it on video it never hurts to send in a report anyway! Also desync is when a player loads into the server and drives off whilst no one is loaded yet. On his screen there is no one whilst on yours he is sending everyone flying. A further explanation about this occurrence is coming up now.

As I have just explained desync we now move onto the topic of loading issues.

Sometimes especially in busy area’s players with weak computers experience lag and loading issues. Sometimes no one loads on his screen whilst the player is loaded in for everyone else which causes everyone to go flying but not the affected player since no one is on his screen. Most likely this player is experiencing both desync and loading issues. Wellknown locations with many examples of players experiencing loading issues and desync are near/in/ the Calais -Duisburg area although also somewhat common on the Calais-Duisburg road itself. Most likely a player starts driving when he connects while he isn’t seeing anyone and thus making everyone fly.

Now i will give some personal tips and advice so you can prevent being impacted by desync yourself!

Firstly and most  importantly whenever you load into the server always ensure you wait untill everyone is properly loaded in! Give it time and patience! It may depend on your hardware how fast your PC is able to load everyone in. Especially in busy area’s you should wait before driving off. If you would like to know how many players are loaded in you can open your tab menu. If there are players that are 0.0 meters away from you it is likely they are not loaded in yet! Once everyone is on a distance higher than 0.0 away you can be sure everyone loaded in! Now how do i avoid desync on a rural road? When you approach another player and you expect to pass them in a corner which curves opposite of the driving direction. (left if driving on the right and right if driving on the left) it can be a good practice to drive closer to the grass. So for example if you are driving into a left handed corner in a righthand driving country you could consider instead of sticking closer to the lane dividingmarkers that you stick to the outside of the corner so that if the opposite player has some desync and happens to go outside their lane due to desync you have a chance to avoid getting damage. However you should always keep in mind you can send in a webreport against a player if you are not sure if you have valid evidence. It is always best to let a member of the Game Moderation Team review the situation! That being said! Thanks for reading!

Hey,

After some consideration we did not really consider this as a necessary guide for a few reasons.

1 - It is already spoken about a multitude of times in the Solved Topics guide in the Help section and so it can often be found there, a dedicated guide doesn't really make sense for this topic.

2 - In general it is a huge block of text that would not be super helpful to everyone.

So whilst we appreciate your attempt to help solve this issue with a guide, we don't necessarily see it as a necessary guide given the available topics covering it and the fact that as a guide it doesn't really make sense - ideally this would be better as something on a KB article etc.

Thanks though!

Owen.
