Does every truck have a "Grandma Seat"

I can definitely confirm that. In my case I had problems with the Mack Anthem - simply couldn't find a suitable seat position to be a able to see the mirrors properly.

I feel like finding a suitable position in the Peterbilt 389 for instance is a lot easier. It really depends on the truck in my opinion.

I didnt notice it much at first, because I was running triple monitor, but when I went back to single monitor it was clearly weird. As Phoenix said above, it's the mirrors. They are further out than on European trucks. Why? I don't know, but I can imagine it might be to see further back. American trucks are often longer than European, and to be able to see so far back the mirrors need to be far out.

The seat isn't moving far enough back, so I tend to mix both FOV and seat position. Sometimes it looks weird, so I just use the F2 mirrors. Sure, they are ugly, but they're very helpful.

Is's becasue the cabin is narrower than the sleeper and the trailer, unlike european trucks which have cabins either less narrower as the trailer or of about the same width.

This result in seat position closer to the centre and mirrors being mounted a bit further from the cab compared to european trucks.

Lonestar and Anthem are the worst at this, I made Lonestar work by incraesing FOV to 80° and moving the seat and turning the head slightly to the left. With Anthem, it is totally impossible, the mirrors are mounted too far back, even moving the seat all the way back you would need to increase the FOV too high to be usable, just use virtual mirror with this one. All other trucks are either ok, or require only little fiddling with FOV/seat position.

But you can rely on hood mirrors a bit more, since those are almost always in view.

That's what i did on my very first truck in 2016. Couldn't see the right side mirror so i added the hood mirror. Better then using F2 mirrors as that isn't realistic. Maybe i'll switch back to Peterbuilt.
