Detours in TruckersMP

Should detours be synced with the servers in TruckersMP?

I think it would be a really neat feature potentially - although the probability would probably best set rather low, and it could be an interesting feature and another reason to listen to TFM traffic reports about where there are road works etc. I liked when the Events Team and Addon Team do things like real ops and if 'mini' elements of those events could feature more on the regular servers as occasional little dynamic events, then I think lots of people would appreciate the realism and the fluid, dynamic feeling to the virtual trucking world.

However, I appreciate that this could potentially quite challenging to implement and wouldn't be to everyone's taste, so I wouldn't consider it a major priority for right now.

Detours and random events are scripted events  that have chance to appear in specifically predefined spots on the map. They appear as soon as you start the job and remain active until you finish the delivery.

I don't see how these scripts could be possibly synchronzed for all players when there are thousands of active deliveries at a same time.

The only posibility is if TMP creates their own system of random events controlled by the server, reusing existing assets. However, I don't see this very likely, as it's a lot of work and isn't really that easy to implement.

Think about how these events would simply pop in and out of existence in front of your eyes, no, that's too dangerous. Certain things should be just simply left for singleplayer.

Hey there!

I would really like the random events to be synced with everyone on the servers. It would get really realistic, and I think that many poeple would enjoy that.

Maybe this will come in the future? Who knows?

Excellent resource. It could be used with synchronization on all ETS and ATS game servers.

I'm sure Detours are something to do with the AI traffic, which isn't on TMP servers. So I dont think they would really work, plus they could have unsuspecting consequences like the Random Road events did, players would randomly swerve to avoid them but other players wouldn't see them.

It would be really nice to have it on all servers, but I highly doubt that it will come since it's probably hard to script it for a MP modification

I think that it would potentially be a good feature to add into TruckersMP.

However with my knowledge of coding, I believe that it would be quite a difficult feature to implement, especially for the small development team at TMP.

In single player I enjoy detours caused by unexpected events. It improves realism of road traffic.
But how could it be synced for all players in multiplayer?

Imagine a random road event on the infamous road between Duisburg and Calais! The chaos would be unimaginable.

This is actually a nice idea. It adds realism and it also gets people to go to other places. Would be nice to have.

Yes. Synced for ALL SERVERS. If one player has it on and another doesn't, you might think they are trying to be a reckless driver.
