Mods, please don't inform me this is in the wrong section. It's not really a suggestion but it does relate to ETS 2 & MP.

Picture

My idea? Use vehicles from Single Player. They appear in traffic (even more if you have g_traffic set to 10.0 in config). These are just some examples from Iberia. Bus, Delivery Truck, some cars. They are already modeled and wouldn't need much editing to make them work with MP.

The suggestions part of this is 2 suggestions.

  1. Keep these vehicles forever on MP.
  2. Doubt it but staff could let us use the emergency vehicles so long as the players aren't trying to mini mod for the team.

TruckersMP has been working on having at least a server with NPC traffic, but that's a very difficult thing to do, when SCS apparently keeps changing how these NPC vehicles work too often.

If you mean vehicles that can be driven by players, we already have the "alternating-vehicles" initiative, every 2 weeks, a new vehicle is implemented in MP, replacing the previous one, so eventually players would be able to drive almost every NPC vehicle in the game.

Now, if what you want is to give players the ability to drive all kinds of cars, vans, trucks, buses, etc... You are in the wrong place, IMO. This is still a Truck simulation game and it's about driving trucks. If someone doesn't want to drive trucks, they should play a different game. Your "not really a suggestion" would turn MP into another GTA clone and I don't think that this is what the team is aiming for.

The whole concept of alternating vehicles is to provide a variety of vehicles without having a "bulk" download, that would put too much stress on the servers. At present, they are fulfilling their aim, and I consider this scheme a success. Your point about them not needing much modelling, however, is perhaps a little misplaced.

As I understand it, each "alternating vehicle" has the mirror placement and interior remodelled in some fashion to ensure that it is safe and useable. To attempt to do this for all AI vehicles would be simply unfeasible with the current size of the team, not even considering the monumental amount of bandwidth that would be required to distribute this content.

As to whether I think some of the vehicles will be provided on a permanent basis, I simply don't believe that they will in their current forms.

As TMP has demonstrated with the Scout, they are capable of sourcing / creating and then implementing a high quality vehicle, and I don't feel that they would reduce their level of quality by using the AI models on a permanent basis.

To summarise, I don't think TruckersMP is going to implement more than two vehicles at a time due to bandwidth limitations, and I believe that the current scheme is sufficient, as it strikes a nice balance between the "truck purists" and people who want a wider selection of vehicles to drive. They will never (in my opinion) allow emergency vehicles (in any form) to be driven by standard users, except on freeroam servers.

How would it be a GTA clone? In my view "GTA" is all about the guns and actively trying to murder everyone 5,000 times over. Besides players trying to "snipe" you with their vehicle, i don't see it being a GTA clone, but rather any racing game.

Not entirely, did you forget about the Skoda and alternating vehicles? About 25% of the simulation servers use those. Personally, i'm glad to see variety instead of 4,000 trucks.

Explain this to me. If the game's about Truck Simulation, why were Bus Stations implemented in Single Player? They don't get used nor serve any purpose, yet they have been updated, are accessible, and remain in game to this day.

That's the gist of the idea for the SP vehicles. Make the mirrors work, interior decorated, and it would take less effort as compared to making 2 alternating vehicles from scratch. 50% of the vehicle is already there including the collision box.

It doesn't have to be all at once. Over time. Do you see all 4,000 players on the Simulation servers all using the skoda and alternating vehicles? No. Only about 25% as the rest are in trucks. Those cars aren't even able to be used in SP unless someone uploaded it to the Workshop.

I mentioned GTA clone as an example where players drive all kinds of vehicles, if you prefer this "another racing game", so be it.

Obviously I didn't, since I mentioned the alternating-vehicles in that same reply. It's not TMP's fault if 25% of the players are more GTA or NFS fans than trucking fans. Now imagine what would happen if instead of 1 fixed and 1 alternating car, they had dozens of them available at all times. Instead of 25%, the server would become 75% "Car driving simulation". And still, it's TRUCKersMP, based on Euro and American TRUCK simulator, games where the goal is to drive TRUCKS.

To me, it seems like you're describing releasing all the alternating vehicles at once.

They're based off the AI models, so they're already implementing what you're suggesting just not releasing more than 2 at once...

I didn't say "all at once". I said "over time" with the end plan to have a different vehicle type on the server perm. Whether it's a box truck, a sports car, or a van. Those variants can alternate.

You stick with your TRUCK. I'll stick with my CAR and play CARersMP. Because if it was all about TRUCKS, cars wouldn't have been added from the start.

The Scout car was only added because someone in the team made it as an experiment intended to let the Game Moderators have a police car. But the people like you wouldn't stop asking because they wanted to have the car too. That's why it was added. A big mistake, as we have been seeing ever since. Mostly used to troll and an excuse for many to ask for more cars. How many cars can you drive in the base game without modding? None. Because SCS never made these games for players to drive cars. It's the same as using a train simulator to ride bikes.

I'd suggest that adding more vehicles only adds to the simulation experience for people who want a "hardcore" trucking experience.

As for people using the vehicles to troll, they would just use another vehicle to troll even if the cars were removed.

Adding NPC vehicles, sure. Adding vehicles that people can drive without any purpose, I don't think so. Most of the people who drive the Scout or the alternating-vehicles are not trying to build a better simulation environment, they only drive those vehicles because "it's cool". And even if 50% of the traffic were anything other than trucks, there would be no difference in regards to the "Trucking experience with other traffic", other than in the well-known areas of the map (and we all know how "simulation wise" those areas are). Any other places would have the same people as now, maybe some more cars and less trucks, but nothing like "traffic simulation". The map is too huge to acomplish that with a maximum of 4500 vehicles. So the excuse of "a better simulation" to add lots of different vehicles is invalid, IMO.

So the bus stops is for an upcoming Bus simulator that SCS is working on and has been for a long time. They plan to use the base map and DLC's for a bus simulator, which is why the bus stops are added. Now the questions people is debating is weather or not SCS is gonna do the bus simulator as a DLC for ETS2 or as a separate game using the map and DLC maps from ETS2. But they will have to change the game name of ETS2 if they add it as a DLC. Since you cant have a trucking simulator where you drive buses.

And as explained above the car was added as a Police car for the moderators. But then it was decided to make a normal version as a pilot car for people to use since we had already made the car, and some trucks do use pilot cars. The problem is just that no one actually uses it as a pilot car, so its mostly people just driving up and down the CD road in cars. But the plan was never to add all sorts of cars and buses and stuff to the game, since it is a trucking simulator as made clear in the road to simulation. Thats not to say we wont add an AI bus at some point as an alternating vehicle or maybe one of the AI trucks. but it wont be permanent i dont think, as this is a trucking simulator and it should stay that way.

Thank you for your response 🙂

SCS should make the bus DLC as a separate game as it would offset the trucking world of the game. Because if that was added to MP, it would upset the balance.

And why not trucks at the same trailers every 15 days.

While creating events for those same trucks and trailers

I am in a group that we organize trains in Portugal and Brazil and use the car to control it.

Hello,

I would think that a convoy escort vehiecle, like it is in SP with special transport, would be a great idea. Then, this vehicle should be available forever. Without car abuse, it would be great to drive the VW T6 escort vehiecle from the SP. However, if they implement it, they should make a new interieur.

Greetings.

I hope that the bus project you are talking about is a real simulator, otherwise it would be another game called "simulator" like ETS2 and ATS.
By the way, bus stops are in every city because that's the way it is in reality. Or in your city they make the bus stop where they want?

Lastly, don't confuse the word simulator with game. I come from several simulators and this is a game that calls itself a "simulator" when it is not, and even TruckersMP demonstrates it by allowing the user to go with a truck at 110km/h.

P/S: I clarify that I am against putting more vehicles.
