Disable "Show players on map function" for Sim servers

Recommended Posts

Suggestion Name: Disable "Show players on map function" for Sim servers

Suggestion Description: Function show players on map would be disabled for simulation servers

Why should it be removed?: Function show nearby players on map suits arcade server better. Removing this function from Simulation servers would only add more realism to the game, as everyone would be forced to use their mirrors and windows. Don't you think its wrong, if you watch map instead of looking of the window when coming to an intersection on a SIM server? I know these "pros" of the function, but is not realistic at all and doesn't help "Road to Simulation" to move the right direction. You don't have such thing in real life.

Hey,

Thanks for your suggestion.

We discussed this internally a lot and there are positive and negative aspects of this feature.
On the one hand, it would indeed be a step towards a more simulation-like experience. Some players might pay more attention to the road rather than just checking the GPS before running a red light.
On the other hand, however, it is very risky. Sometimes players do not render in time wherein real life the vehicle would have been visible for a long time. Players have the option to reduce the render distance which is useful for low-end devices. Imagine playing with a low render distance and trying to exit the service station in Calais or cross a busy intersection.

While we would love to implement this, we can not do it at the moment. The option to disable player dots is there for all players in the TAB settings, you are more than welcome to use it if you're confident enough.

Thanks for your understanding.
