Hello Blehmaster,

Do you have a black screen or just a freeze of the main menu?

I would recommend to do this already:

> Go to Steam library

> Right click ETS2

> Properties

> Local Files

> Verify Integrity of Game Files

And check this out, I guess this could solve your problem :)

Kind regards

Stay Safe!

Hi @Blehmaster,

1 - Check your graphics card's driver for any updates.

2 - Head to the Steam>Libary>Euro Truck Simulator 2>Right Click>Local Files>Verify Integrity of Game Files

Hello @Blehmaster,

If you're unsure whether your problem has been solved or not, please test it for like a day or so :)

Also, you might want to make a clean install of your graphics drivers.

Here's how to do that on Nvidia:

1. Either download the driver from Nvidias website or use Geforce Experience

2. If its downloaded from Nvidias website, open the installer and use custom install. If it's through Geforce Experience, choose the 'Custom install' button after the file has been downloaded :)

3. Now when clicking through the installer, you'll get to a picture like this: https://images.idgesg.net/images/article/2020/03/geforce-clean-install-100834531-large.jpg
4. When you get to the mentioned picture, remember to set a checkmark for the 'Perform a clean installation' checkbox

5. Then just continue.

Once it's done installing, please test it for like a day or maybe even just once (That depends on how often the issue occured for you, when you had it)

If you're using an AMD gpu, please let us know (I'll have to look it up, on how to do it with AMD gpu's, before I can explain that :))

I hope either your problem is already solved, or that reinstalling the GPU drivers helps :)

We await your return!

Sincerely,

Hello @Blehmaster :)

You can also try these methods:

Solution 1:

1-Run the command client (cmd) as an administrator

2-Enter the following command sfc /scannow

3-Wait for the process to finish, and then restart your computer.

4-Launch the game with Steam "Launch with DirectX (64-bit)".

5-Spend some time in the game (5-10 min).

6-Exit the game and start Multiplayer.

Solution 2:

Try clearing your ram cache. you can do this by following these steps.

step 1- press windows+R

step 2- type %temp%

step 3- delete all files ( but if you run a server or a built in email server make sure not to delete files for those things, you can lose emails or server info)

step 4- reboot your computer

Solution 3:

>>>'D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Euro Truck Simulator 2\bin\win_x64' (or wherever your ETS 2 is installed) and delete the file 'd3d9.dll' in that folder. I think it is worth giving it a shot whether this might solve your problem as well.

Note:Make sure the drivers are up to date!!!

I hope it helps..

Kind Regards

Drexy

Hi @Blehmaster

This issue doesn't have a solution yet and don't know what does caused . Game already close and game.log says process shutdown but  ets2.exe still run. I think sometimes windows can't unmount exetuable and wait missing command for do it. You musn't  restart pc or log out win account follow this step for close game;

1- Wait 5-10 sec for create auto save file after press quit.

2- If game is freeze use ctrl+alt+delete and open task manager.

3- Use alt+tab combination and select task maganer. Probably you don't access task manager over black screen

4- Press e and delete key respectively

Now exe is shutdown and game is saving without loss.
