  1. I don't own any DLC's except for the Going East DLC. This won't solve the crashes until people realize they shouldn't sign on using the DLC until the devs of the mod can patch it to support the paintjobs. That's what's causing the crashes is everyone who got the Christmas DLC are signing on like it'll just be magically supported from thin air.
  2. I'm having the same issues. Game is very unstable on MP at the moment, and I'm not sure why. Go to your documents and backup your profile after you make a stable save in single player. Others have been reporting the issue here: http://forum.ets2mp.com/index.php?/topic/1226-my-ets2-stops-responding/ Not sure what could be happening, unless it has something to do with the new holiday paintjobs.
  3. Good to know then, lol. Looks like I have an expensive lawn ornament! Thanks for the fast reply!
  4. I have three garages in game now, and I really don't need three. I'd like to sell my garage in London, but I can't seem to find a way to do so. I checked within company manager and garage manager in game and saw no options to do so. Is it even possible to sell a garage once you own one? Thanks in advance
  5. This used to be my setup before I switched to a Logitech Driving Force GT wheel. I accidentally labeled the Y button as Motorbrake but I meant exhaust brake and I completely forgot to label that D-Pad up was Retarder Increase and D-pad down was retarder decrease. Hope that helps.
  6. Thanks guys for the opinions offered. Sounds like the 18 year old age requirement might be a bit too steep then. I'll follow the international rules set down in COPPA (Child Online Privacy Protection Act) and not allow persons under the age of 13 to join. but I'm also heavily favoring what Crazyforiphone said and may bump up the requirements just a bit. I'm using myvtc.net for the company, but I do plan on laying out a specific set of rules, and like Crazyforiphone suggested, I'm definitely gonna expect my drivers to follow the rules in place by the ets2mp mod, and some very basic common sense rules such as no obscene, abusive, or racist or sexist comments directed towards fellow employees or other drivers on the forum here, and especially in game. Anyone who breaks those rules will face the punishment determined by the admins for breaking ets2 mp rules, and of course they can face disciplinary action in my company as well, up to and including termination (as in fired from their position, not like the movie! )
  7. Thank you for your offer, but Sicco0803 and I worked out a deal. I appreciate you taking the time to help.
  8. Thanks for your insight on this. I am from the US so 13 is considered very much a minor. 18 years old is considered the age of an adult, so I will strictly follow the 13 and above rule laid down by COPPA, but I was even considering making it 18 and above only, but I don't know if that could be considered too extreme or not.
  9. Hey guys, I kind of wanted the general opinion of the community on this issue. I'm currently attempting to start my own VTC, and as it stands I believe the most basic rule is that anyone 13 years and older can apply to be a part of the company, however, I feel that since I am 25 years old myself, I should perhaps raise the age requirements to my company. The only reason I consider this is for basic protection of myself, as I don't know how good it looks to be a 25 year old male using teamspeak with minors. I personally have nothing against any one here who is a minor, but I feel that it could be misconstrued into something that it is most certainly not. I'd be very interested to hear from other VTC owners on this and how they handle the situation, and if, say I do impose an age restriction on my VTC that requires members to be age 18 and above how outraged could I expect most people to be? Thanks in advance!
  10. That's very generous of you. I sent you a PM.
  11. Yeah, I finally was able to figure out that the regular unlicensed version is free, but man does it look complicated as hell to set up a server because of the port forwarding, and as you said, I like to shut my computer off when I go to sleep, so that would be an issue if I was trying to host. I sadly can't afford renting a server at the moment, so I'm trying to find another way to host voice comms. Thank you for all of your information and help!
  12. Hey guys. I'm curious to know how much it costs to create a server for voice communication using teamspeak. I really want to start my own VTC but the only thing holding me back is the fact that I can't figure out a solution for voice communications. I'd like to use Teamspeak, but I'm not sure how much that would cost me, as I don't have money to spend on keeping a server open. Also, my gaming computer is my only computer, so I'm not sure if I'd need to dedicate a computer to act as a server or not. Kinda unfamiliar with the territory, but I've run several VTCs of my own in the past back in the days of 18 Wheels of Steel Haulin' and proboards, before MP was even thought possible in a game such as this. I really appreciate anyone who offers up some help or alternatives to Teamspeak, if any. EDIT: I have been able to work out a deal, thank you everyone for your help!
  13. Ahh that was so cool flying around to me what looked a lot like San Francisco. Amazing stuff. American Truck Simulator is special to me, because back in the early 80's my dad was a truck driver in California. I'd love to retrace some of his steps.
  14. That was the most incredible thing I've seen! Did...did the driver step out to have a few swigs of an energy drink?! Damn!
  15. That it is. And I just drove my Iveco on a short route using this plugin, and I'm absolutely blown away! The sounds however, do not fully cover the original SCS sounds all the way for me, so I have to turn down the sound effects in the game options. However, the negative side effect of this is that I can no longer hear my indicators, and other sounds like horns and other truck engines are just barely audible.
  16. I just downloaded this as it sounds absolutely amazing. It says it can be used with any truck, but if the truck isn't a Scania, than the truck's original sounds will be heard as well as the new sounds. Can't we just mute the truck noises in the options screen? Lol. Anyways, I'm gonna give this a shot, as the original sounds, God bless SCS, leave a lot to be desired.
  17. Yeah the Iveco must have a hell of an exhaust brake! I say this because slow city driving around 30MPH my wheel brakes worked just fine, as there was no speed, so stopping at stoplights, ect was quite easy so I didn't know a problem existed. Once I got onto the smaller country roads it was pretty wide open, and I used the exhaust brake to maintain speed downhills and before corners. I didn't have any issues but I also saw the sharper corners on my SatNav and was able to slow down early enough for them. It was only until I was up around 50 MPH and hit that very sharp downhill straight away (something I only saw as a straight road on the SatNav) that I realized I could not stop. And then checking my in-game settings I saw somehow my brake deadzone and intensity were messed up. Thanks! I really doubt a ban would come of it, but that really depends on if anyone of those other drivers in that four way decided to report me. It was definitely disrespectful driving and at least kick-worthy. I also felt the need to make this thread as I didn't have any video proof of my driving at that time (even I did, it would still look like I just didn't care for rules, unless I was recording audio in which case you'd just hear me whimpering and screaming NO! lol) So just in case, I can at least show the admins here that I tried not to be a bad person.
  18. Oh, roger that. Well, the steps I listed somehow worked for me, so I figured I'd share them just in case. Thanks for the heads up about this.
  19. Ok, so I am definitely wrong yet again. Ah well, somebody said that a true genius knows that they really know nothing. And I certainly don't know anything, but I'm happy to learn. I believe all 3 of my trucks have OpticruiseR's installed in them, so I'll definitely look into this, as apparently I have only been using the exhaust brake. Damn....Eurotrucks are complicated and technical. I think American trucks have wheel brakes and a jakebrake and that's it. lol. Thank you so much for clarifying this and teaching me some stuff I really need to know! EDIT: And to GC_Stealth....thank you for tolerating my stupidity!
  20. For the guys who are having trouble downloading the MP mod are you by chance running Avast Anti-Virus? I have avast and it will falsely identity the MP mod download as a problem, but this is resolved by disabling web-shields or avast entirely for a few moments when I download the mod. I also recommend anyone getting the corrupt download to make sure their anti-virus is disabled while they are installing the mod to their computer, and to right-click the installer.exe and run it as an administrator. This has solved the problem for me. Trust me, the anti-viruses are wrong as the download is safe and clean. I can attest to this as I have had to do this since well before this release and I run weekly scans on my machine with several different anti-malware programs like Malwarebytes as well as avast and have no had an issue linked to ETS 2 MP.
  21. I'm confused a bit then I guess. All I know is that triangle button on my wheel is I believe what you're speaking of. When I press this button the engine makes more noise as the compression is vented from the valves and the truck will slow down without having to apply the wheel brakes. I assumed this is the retarder which I also though was another word for engine brake. I'll have a look in my settings for a keybinding for retarder then. I'm not used to European trucks, as in the US our trucks have what they call a jakebrake and I had assumed that's what I had been using. EDIT: AHA! More of my American ignorance is on display here. Apparently, the terms enginebraking and retarder (AKA Jake Brake) are confused. From wikipedia: Engine braking occurs when the retarding forces within an engine are used to slow a vehicle down, as opposed to using an additional external braking mechanisms such as friction brakes or magnetic brakes. The term is often confused with several other types of braking, most notably compression-release braking or "jake braking" which uses a different mechanism entirely. Correct use of the term only applies to petrol engines and other engines that throttle air intake (as opposed to, e.g. diesel engines or electric engines) In bold there is what I was doing. Confusing enginebraking and jakebraking as one in the same. Apparently enginebraking is possible only on petrol engines as it works through reducing airflow, and is not possible in diesel engines which remove compression from the cylinders and do not adjust fuel flow and air mixture. So I have been using the retarder, just not the correct term for it. Learn something new everyday.
  22. Oh trust me, I love my engine brake, and I use it extensively, and it's the only thing that stopped me at all, since my brake pedal settings were borked. In fact, I'd say I probably over-use my engine brake and that's very likely why I didn't notice my wheel brakes were messed up until I really really needed them. But yeah, this will sound like I'm being mean and I don't mean for it to, but if you re-read my post I was using the engine brake (retarder) the entire time. Lol. EDIT: Whoops, missed your reply Nick, and now I can't quote it...anyways, no offense taken, thank you for clarifying that.
  23. Thanks guys for the kind words. As for the whole mess up with Bern being in Switzerland...you have my apologies. I'm from the US and not every good at Geography, so I should've had the map open in front of me as I typed, lol. Anyways, glad to know that sometimes I'm not the only one to have a bad day behind the wheel.
  24. Wasn't this beaten to death on the older forums to the point where admins were issuing bans for making topics complaining about the speed limiter? I thought that was why there were two servers created. EU 1 has speed limiter AND collisions are activated. Admins will have to focus on this server due to collisions being active, so for everyone that wants no limiter they created EU 2 but had to remove collisions as there wasn't enough admins to police both servers. So if you'd like you can always use EU 2 because it has no limiter.
  25. So...I'm leaving Bern in Sweden with 21 tons of Rice loaded onto my Iveco Hi-Way. I've not driven this route often, and I think when I did I had a much lighter trailer and I was going towards Bern and not away from it. Anyways, I come to a part in the roads where we begin to find some heavy S curves and the like. I am going slow and able to control my truck with no issues, except for the fact that I was almost in a head on collision with a blue Volvo who crossed into my lane. A Very near miss. The roads straighten out and I keep on going and I find myself staying around 45 to 50 MPH as the road is straight but narrow. Suddenly I come up to a part of the road that just drops off into a blind crest over a very very steep downcline leading to...yep, you guessed it, a four way intersection that is absolutely loaded with trucks. I was going around 50 MPH at this point...I should've been going slower because I was not familiar with the road...so I'm at fault...but it only gets better. I turn on my engine brake and apply wheel brakes. I'm not slowing down. I mash the brake pedal to the floor and continue to lean on the engine brake button, I begin to slow down, but I only just barely stop IN THE MIDDLE of the damn 4-way intersection where apparently, someone was already off the road. All four ways were occupied, and because my turn was to the left, I needed to give right of way, but due to the fact that for whatever reason my brakes were not working, I had already essentially forced myself through a mass group of drivers and one guy who was desperately trying to get off the grass back onto the road. Now I'm essentially blocking the intersection, so I had no choice but to clear it as carefully as possible Needless to say I was absolutely embarrassed and I have never driven like such an a**hole before in my life. My air pressure lines were fine, what the hell was wrong with my truck? I know 21 tons is a bit heavy, and I was probably speeding a bit for the situation, but I've never not had control like that before. I pulled over to the side and checked my control settings. Somehow, my settings had changed with my Driving Force GT's pedals, and my braking deadzone was about halfway, and braking intensity in the game options tab was all the way to the left...basically off. I don't know what changed my settings, but I do know that I feel like a massive jerk for forcing my way through a packed intersection. So to any of those drivers that might read this: I'm sorry. Bad luck like this is gonna end up getting me banned...
