  1. So, why do you need a speed limit than? Why do you want to restrict the speed of others just because you have to drive slowly? Setting a general speed limit of 60km/h is not realistic at all..
  2. To be fair, in reallife there is no speed limit for special transports! It's the responsibility of the truck driver to safely move the cargo from A to B and to instruct escort vehicles. The route is defined upfront, but there is always a possibility that the route is blocked for some reason (accident, road flooded due to high water, etc) and than the driver has to instruct the escort vehicles (who only exist to assist the driver) what the new route is and he confirmed it with dispatch (insurance reasons). It is always the driver who determines the speed. You do know that while you are allowed to drive 60, you are not required to do so, right? For TruckersMP is it very simple, if you driving way to fast, it should be considered trolling.
  3. This is not true! There are probably just as much people that use addon maps like ProMods that are incompatible with TruckersMP. To be fair, I've been away from TruckersMP for a while (almost two years) because I was tired sick of trolls on the simulation server.. This has improved greatly, but I'm sure that there are a lot of ex-ets2mp gamers out there that are afraid of coming back because of accident trauma's.. If you say would be true, there wouldn't be any ets/ats mod sites! Because none of these mods are compatile with TruckersMP..
  4. I work as a software architect for a consortium of small/medium size logistical companies that develop fleet management software and have more than 20 years development experience under my belt using all kind of languages. So I will list the languages I have used in the last year: - C# - C(++) - Lua - AVR assembly - STM32 ARM/Cortex M4/M7 assembly - (T-)SQL - Javascript - Html/Css - Java - Delphi/Pascal
  5. Isn't ETS2/ATS always on sale on steam?
  6. A simulator does not simulate reality! Why is everything thinking that? A simulator simulates a SINGLE aspect of reality. That is a very big difference.. ETS2 simulates the delivery of goods. It does not simulate the physics of a truck nor does it simulate the tasks of the driver.. Ever drove over a railway crossing in ETS2? Well it doesn't matter what tires you are using, the effect remains the same. Even speed does not play a factor. That is because SCS did simulate the tire, but not the behavior of rubber and the effect of pressured air inside that tire. Thing is, that if you drive very fast (> 200km/h) over a railway crossing, you shouldn't feel the crossing (height differences) at all. Besides, a simulator can also simulate conditions that are unknown, but more of an estimate like the NASA mars simulator. Airlines use simulators to train pilots for the unthinkable and to become familiar with standard operating procedures..
  7. Simply no. Driving in a more realistic way should be encouraged, not enforced!
  8. Maybe the tablist should have a dropdown so you can choose how you want to sort the nearby players list. For instance I would like to filter all traffic in the opposite lanes and whether a player is in front (positive distance) or behind me (negative distance). I don't have friends, only competition ;-)
  9. Techniques how this could be achieved were earlier discussed in this topic: http://forum.ets2mp.com/index.php?/topic/12912-the-most-comprehensive-suggestion-ever-xd/ It also discussed the matter of introducing AI traffic to the game, so ghost areas aren't as empty anymore.. At this point that suggestion wasn't rejected or approved. In that light, this is a duplicate topic. If you have any ideas how to interconnect the various MP servers, please do so in the earlier mentioned topic..
  10. But what if I (with a green light) ram a user running a red light? Who's at fault then? Not to mention that this rule is an exception to the in-game rules manifest which states that While Driving in ETS2MP, users are required to follow the European Traffic laws So, which (European) country allows driving through red lights? Saying that user can run red lights creates unambiguous (traffic) rules and to mine opinion that should be avoided at all times..
  11. If the devs ever to decide to make a change to the traffic lights, than they should determine the time for red and green based on the current traffic.. So if you're the only one in a east European city, than the light should turn green very quickly. This also means that traffic on main streets have a longer green than traffic on connecting streets. And if they really want to outdo themselfs, they add the green wave feature which would improve fuel efficiency.. But I vote 'No' for this suggestion. btw: If you see a trucker running a red light, save the event and report that sinner!
  12. That is easy to fix by making the season mod 'opt-in'.. On the other hand it is hard to find seasonable mods that have the same or higher quality than SCS assets. And maybe you should be able to choose all 4 seasons at any time in the year. So I like to drive into the snow in July? These mods only effect the local pc, so if the mods is ets2mp approved you can activate such a season mod when you like to..
  13. If you see a player spawn on the road outside a collision zone, report that idiot! This rule isn't different from virtual aviation networks where you don't spawn on a runway.. When user obey the rules, you don't need a 5-second no-collission delay. I understand you're problem, but you come with the wrong solution..
  14. Let me start by saying that is a very healthy attitude. We all have to learn the procedures and making mistakes along the way can be expected. In general there is little you can do about trolls, other than to report the driver. But there is a big difference between a new player that goes back into the right lane too soon and a troll that intentionally wants to hit you. Software like Nvidia ShadowPlay and AMD Rapter give you a rolling recording ability. Meaning that those utilities only record the last 2 minutes and throw away earlier footage. When something happens, you hit a key combo (alt+F8 for ShadowPlay) and it stores the current video buffer to disk.. You can than upload this recording to YouTube and set access to invitation only and in your report supply the url to you're recording, if you do now want to litter you're channel/account with reporting videos. Think of a retarder as the opposite of a cruise control. Cruise control ensures that you maintain a minimum speed, well the retarder ensures a maximum speed. Retarders are generally used down hill to you don't constantly have to keep braking to prevent going over the speed limit or safe driving speed (like on the Brenner pass between Austria and Italy). Most retarders have several power settings and the retarder only works when cruise control is active. If you use the retarder on a road without a slope, you're truck will slow down. On most trucks the retarder is set using a stalk on the steering wheel in the same way you set the wiper speed. The easiest way to become an economical driver is using cruise control as often as possible. When you see a red light far ahead, let go of the gas and coast towards the red light when it turn green, only apply some light pressure to the gas pedal a shift to a higher gear when you come into the yellow area of the RPM gauge. There are tools for calculating fuel usage, but these are very expensive. Our software provide that option, but starts at 15.000 euro for 10 trucks (VIN numbers). Thing is that there are a lot of drivers saying they want real world realism, but at the same time forget all the other tasks that are related to trucking. In general they only apply realistic traffic rules, but trucking is way more than that.. Trucking is about making money like any other business. Courses and training by truck manufacturers are expensive, but so is fuel. So saving up to 10% fuel can really add up. But the truck also need less maintenance, so it's more on the road making money.. Hope this answers a few of you're questions.

    Speed limit

Aren't speed limits in the US determined and set by state administration? I do not have a lot knowledge about traffic rules in the US, but I can imagine that east coast states in general have lower (truck) speed limits than central states because of the higher density or traffic in those areas. Driving a truck with 75mph around NYC is a whole different experience than driving that same speed in Texas. Europe is simply too dense to allow trucks driving 120km/h. One of the things that I noticed here in the forums is that most members think that truck driver have to follow the same rules as 'regular' car traffic, but only with a lower maximum speed. If it wouldn't without automation, truck drivers would spend more time of their administrations than driving the truck. In general the EU has more strict rules than the US..
