  1. The purpose of this question is to provide checks and balances in terms of what TruckersMP is doing to handle emotionally sensitive matters, such as the bereavement of current or former team members, as people experience grief in different ways when someone they know and love has passed away. Background to this question Back in the start of January 2022, former TruckersMP staff member Sanamaria passed away, which was confirmed in several status updates on their profile as well as in discussions about this matter on the TruckersMP Discord. Our wishes and condolences go out to her family and closest friends at this time. Question Now that there is a precedent with regards to the death of a former team member, I have decided to ask the following questions, to see whether there is an established process within TruckersMP on managing the deaths of former, or currently serving TruckersMP staff. 1. How would the bereavement of a team member, current, or former, be managed within both the TruckersMP staff, as well as within the wider TruckersMP community? 2. How could TruckersMP better support the family members, as well as those who were very close to the deceased team member? 3. How can the TruckersMP accounts of deceased members be managed appropriately to minimise unauthorised access?
  2. I would say that the Haulie mascot is one of the most iconic symbols of TruckersMP, as it helps to bring everyone together in trucking-related discussions across the TruckersMP services, and I hope that in the future there will be more uses of the mascot, particularly in the in-game and media/animation aspects.
  3. With regards to the 0.2.3.5.4 update, I do actually like the overhaul of the TruckersMP settings to make it easier to configure the client, and I also think that the modification of the draw distance mechanism is a much needed change, particularly for those in the media team, as it opens up the opportunity for people who are interested in media to do all sorts of cool effects that can't be done before. But I honestly do not understand the logic behind the complaints regarding local mods that run on executables? As CJ explains differently, TruckersMP uses secure software development methods as part of implementing their client, so you can't allow executable files that come from untrusted sources to run, otherwise the client's code will be more vulnerable to attack by an unauthorised user looking to run an exploit. Do you not understand that any cyber-security breaches can have a negative impact on TruckersMP's reputation? Therefore, it's not possible to implement everything that involves executables by "just judging the book's cover".
  4. I hope to use the Job Dispatcher more frequently alongside the normal freight market jobs as it is not only useful for syncing your jobs with friends, but it also opens up greater autonomy to experiment with new routes and cargo types as it allows me to generate loads to places which are hard to find in the normal freight market list.
  5. Hey guys! I've just recorded 1000 hours of playtime on ETS2, and to celebrate the moment, I decided to go to a big city, in this case Malmo in southern Sweden. It's taken me nearly 7 years to achieve this milestone, and so I would like to thank everyone in the community for making this possible.

  6. I would like to come on here and thank everyone who wished me a happy birthday today! It's been a difficult year with many twists and turns, but I am looking forward to finishing my degree course next year. And hopefully return to the team someday...

  7. I will almost always stick to TruckersMP as I believe in a world where there are different volumes of activity across the map, and where I can mix in with other real players. But I am open to the Convoy mode if someone on my friends list wants to do a session with small groups of people and mix in with some AI traffic.
  8. If you are in the developer console, you can go into the "Visualize" menu and uncheck the "Wireframe" option. Alternatively you may type "r_wireframe 0" (without the quotes) into the console in-game to disable the wireframe mode.
  9. From what I can see, you are in the wireframe mode, which is usually enabled from the developer console if you have enabled that in your ETS2 config.cfg. If you open up the developer console by using the button just below the ESC key, you will be able to toggle between the wireframe and standard modes.
  10. This update is probably one of the most significant achievements that TruckersMP has ever made to date, especially as some of the features that have been implemented, such as making the fatigue simulation and job economy largely functional on TruckersMP, have been on the discussion tables for several years, and it just goes to show that TruckersMP has come a long way since the project began eight years ago. However, I do have a question that is related to this post: Does this mean that it may be possible to take Quick Jobs without getting penalised for a late delivery upon selection of the job, or would this be part of a future update?
  11. I would like to suggest a link to R, which is a statistical programming language that is popular with data scientists. https://www.r-project.org/
  12. I have mixed feelings about anti-cheat systems - while I do think that anti-cheat systems can have its benefits as far as detecting the most obvious cheaters if it can be designed in a way to make it as hard as possible to find workarounds, I think that such mechanisms should be used in conjunction with human reviewers (i.e. GMs), especially in situations where the user decides to appeal their ban, so that they can be unbanned if it's determined to be a false flag. But it is not going to be easy to build such solutions, as cheaters quickly find more obscure ways of getting around these mechanisms, and so a fully effective anti-cheat mechanism is more likely going to be a "utopian" idea rather than something that can be done in the near-future. I would also like to point something out that hasn't been brought up yet and has been discussed with other games in the last year (such as Valorant's anti-cheat mechanism) - I am strongly opposed to any anti-cheat mechanism that requires Ring 0 (kernel) access to your computer, as this would present a security threat whereby if a vulnerability is discovered in the anti-cheat mechanism, an unauthorised user could exploit the vulnerability and take control of your entire operating system.
  13. Exactly two years ago to this day, January 19th, you have taken over as the lead Project Manager from Scar.

Since that time you have achieved a lot of things that have hugely benefitted the project and its community - some of the most important decisions included the introduction of the TruckersMP Patreon, as well as partnerships in October 2019, to contributing to the easing of Save Editing rules, and more recently, the appointment of several Project Coordinators, who have previously served as experienced upper staff members and can help to further drive along positive change in TruckersMP.

Therefore, I would like to serve my congratulations on reaching this milestone in your TruckersMP staff career, and I wish to see you through another year of Project Management.

  14. Seeing the Cyrillic, you could tell that this is a plan to create a "Going Further East" DLC expansion, and I am certainly looking forward to see how this will shape the gameplay experience of ETS2 going into late 2021 and beyond.
  15. Congratulations on joining the Add-on Team, wish you the best of luck!

  16. The port of Varna contains one of the most unique unloading places in vanilla ETS2 in my opinion.

What a great way to end a problem-free trip around the Road to the Black Sea DLC.

  17. I made this status to assure everyone that everything is OK from my side again, for now.

Just to let everyone know that I am back playing games again after six months of not playing anything truck-related.

I am currently taking things easy and playing ETS2 single player (1.38 if you're wondering), so that I can get used to driving trucks again without the pressures of other players, and to get used to the road traffic rules again. In my next session I am going to play a bit of ProMods 2.50 and get used to the new areas there, and it's also a good way to pass the time, until the 1.38 update for TruckersMP comes out.

In any case, I hope to see some players that I used to meet in-game sometime in the future.

Glad to see you back trucking after a long break.

  18. Background This is a slightly different question that I would like to ask compared to what has been seen so far, since this will be about the Q&A itself and its inner workings. I decided to leave this question to the very end of the session, since this is a question that relies on having a large amount of information available to get the best answer. TruckersMP has had five publicly known Q&A sessions; May 2017 (page 2-6 of archive), June 2018 (page 1-2 of archive), April 2019, November 2019 and August 2020. Over time, each Q&A has had different themes and the structuring of the Upper Staff team has changed significantly between each session, allowing for a wider variety of questions to be presented to a bigger range of departments. Question Based on the types of questions that are seen in this session as well as in previous Q&A sessions, I have three questions to present in this topic: 1. How did the TruckersMP Q&A experience evolve over time from the perspective of the Community Management? 2. How could the Q&A experience be changed in the future? 3. What are the challenges that are involved with carrying out improvements in this area of work?
  19. I can +1 this suggestion as this improves realism particularly in urban areas of the map, however there are some things that could make this suggestion work to its optimal standard. For example, one of the things I thought about is that I would give verified, and otherwise more well-known VTCs priority as far as VTC advertising in-game goes, as those VTCs are more likely to be trusted by players, and would therefore play a factor in a decision to allow players to make a more informed choice later on.
  20. Background to this question Back in April 2020, the Add-On Team reconfigured the Calais-Duisburg area in an effort to improve road safety at some of the most notorious junctions along the C-D route. This made me wonder if there were other areas of the map, particularly other high-population regions, that could be redesigned in a similar fashion. Question Are there any plans to reconfigure other areas of the vanilla ETS2 map in places outside of the Calais-Duisburg area? If so, which areas are being planned to be redeveloped in the close future, and if not, what are the issues that are related to such projects?
  21. Hello there,

I just want to come on here to thank everyone for all the birthday wishes that have been offered on my profile as I start a new decade in my life, turning 20 years old today.

As far as my future on TruckersMP goes, I plan to get back in-game soon, as it's been a really long time since I've last been out on the roads, and perhaps take part in the Q&A session as well to get back into the rhythm of things again. The positive times that I've had here will definitely be back again.

  22. Hello there, As far as I am aware, you need to be a member of the TruckersMP community for 12 months, however it is also a requirement to have a forum account for one month as well if you wish to join the team. The other general requirements relating to recruitment can be found here:
  23. After two years and two months as an Event Manager, where you have done some exceptionally good work across the board, it is now time to start a new quest, a much bigger quest that involves the future of the project.

    Congratulations on your well-deserved promotion!
