  1. That’s what I was saying, if drive a spawns in and then waits at the last few metres before the ghost mode is disabled, particulRly on blind or off camber turns/hills, then as driver b comes around then turn/hill at road speed, driver a can easily move their truck to block driver b giving driver b only a second or two to react and avoid a collision. Hobestly, timed ghost mode can be fixed by simply increasing the time you have in ghost mode, but neither timed or distance ghost modes will work for the simple reason that people generally load autosaves in busy, high traffic areas because of lag, trolls and other issues, so even if ghost mode is distance based, you’ll, still end up glitching out or blocking traffic. That’s why there should be a rule on spawning on roads, it’s dangerous, it’s stupid and you can land yourself in more trouble than if you just do things differently. Also, it’s obvious that you have not encountered a troll because a lot of trolls will make an accident look like it’s your fault, that you’re speeding or some other excuse, when in actual fact, they are blocking areas that you cannot see until you are within metres of them, regardless if you are doing 40 or 80 mph, if you can see a truck in front of you a few metres away and can stop or avoid within that distance, then you must have some kind of hack or sixth sense. Everything is subject to situation, not just “oh you hit someone, well you were speeding or not paying attention”, if you have realistic brake settings and a heavy trailer behind you, even if you see a truck 2-300 metres ahead of you while you’re traveling at the speed limit, the chances of stopping in time is very very slim. Plus, traffic may not give you the chance to see and avoid a wreck, so instantly saying, oh you are at fault for causing the wreck because you could avoid, that’s a total lie. If someone stops in the middle of a motorway irl and someone atmotorway speed is blocked by other traffic and poles into the stopped vehicle, who’s fault is it then? Also, just because I don’t whole heartedly support your suggestion 1000% doesn’t make my opinions irrelevant. @ShadowWolf2k7 its easy, bans are handed out based on photographic and video evidence, like most bans are these days. If someone is seen spawning on a major road, and it’s captured by other players or admins, then it can be acted upon. Fuel stations and rest areas are not ncz for very good reasons, they’ll become a troll hotspot and a scene of many a collision based incident otherwise. The only thing that would be nice is if you spawn there and someone’s parked in the same space, then collisions are automatically disabled till you or they depart. Road spawning is just super dangerous no matter how heavy traffic is and simply slapping a time or distance ghosting period is like slapping a bandaid on a cut artery, it’s not going to solve much, especially as OP stated that in the first place with their video.
  2. It doesn’t matter whether you use distance or time, people will still swerve or stop which will cause wrecks, primary cause: someone spawning in the roadway. Time you can easily bum0 up to take into account loading times etc, distance is more dangerous because unless you account for every truck and trailer combo and how safe it is for them to leave ghost mod at that specific time, you may as well scrap ghost mode in that configuration. you may not be able to be directly banned for using an auto save, but if it’s considered to be in a high traffic area or indeed causes either damage directly to a fellow driver or as a result of them avoiding you spawning in, then honestly, you should be punished because you are essentially blocking the roadway and essentially causing collisions AND spawning within a high traffic area, which can be deemed as troll status. Believe me, it may seem “unlikely” to you, but if you’ve been a part of TMP/ETS2MP as long as I have, you tend to get a feeling for what can and cannot happen from a situation and if distance is a measurement, a troll can easily save in a spot, spawn in, drive to within a certain distance of the end point of the ghost mode, wait till s unsuspecting driver is about to pass, then they just move their truck so that they block the lane as they leave ghost mode and that causes the victim truck to either take avoiding action and wreck or slam into them. It’s why a agree with those who say spawning on the road should be bannable because it’s too dangerous to other players, save/load from a fuel or rest area.
  3. But what you are proposing doesn’t solve the issue at all, all it does is essentially allow anyone to sit in the road fo4 as long as possible and ghost, easy tool for trolls to sit on the last few metres or so and then move so that they block or glitch into someone passing by, it’s the same with timed ghost mode. thats why I said, you should rely on ghost mode to save you because it’s not effective, whether it’s measured in minutes, seconds, metres, inches, yards, miles, hours etc etc, you’ll still get the same issues no matter what, you’ll still have the chance of “having no time to move” as you say. and I’m not arguing, I’m just saying that your suggested idea is just as bad if not worse than what we have currently for a multitude of reasons. What’s need is something different, something that takes the long, laborious process of going into singleplayer to move 100 ft, but keeping it on the server without effecting traffic flow because it’s obvious ghostmode is not the solution no matter the unit used. As for you being banned? I can guarantee if someone had reported you specifically for what happened, you would get bannned because, as I said before, it was your choice to choose to respawned using an auto save, it was your choice to essentially spawn in the middle of the road, it was your choice to put 100% confidence into a last chance, backup system.. As you say, many use autosaves, but personally, the best way to play is to stop at either every fuel station or every rest area and then save a separate save file (I name mine “wreck recovery” to distinguish it from the other saves) then if something happens and I need to respawned, I’m not in the roadway nor do I lose too much progress. If everyone got into the habit of doing so, even if it’s every couple of stop areas, that means you ha e as a e that’s relatively recent to drive from, plus you can always change routes to avoid any trolls you encountered and get out of the area. The thing is, it’s better than suddenly slamming into someone sat in the middle of the road. Plus, you can always combine the 2 systems to give you extra protection. Furthermore, my system is not distance based, it’s time based, allowing you a specific amount of time to move to a safe location, thus avoiding the issue of being in a bad area to pull off on.
  4. Uh dude, I only joined this thread about 2-3 days ago.... check numbers.
  5. The thing is, who’s to say that you haven’t edited your video to cut out you idling? Besides, everyone has an option when it comes to spawning in and saying you have no choice but to spawn on the road in that situation is like me saying I have to spawn in the middle of the Brussels-Rotterdam exit on the Calais Duisburg road. Sometimes, especially if you know the area you are In is prone to high traffic volumes, it’s best to take the hit and f7 enter, remove the load, fix your truck, spawn at a garage, get a new load. And yes, it is reckless because you decided it was fine to spawn in the road RELYING on the ghosting system to save you from being recorded and banned for causing a collision, except either your claim that the timing started while you were loading is true or you just took your sweet time moving, but either way, your presence in the middle of the road caused the glitch out and damage to all parties, so therefore you are at fault because, as I said before, you always have a choice on whether to load an auto save or not. Its easy to say, oh ghost mode should save me, but in reality it shouldn’t, you should save yourself by making the right choices and if you make the wrong choice, you get punished, that’s life, I mean, think of it this way, say irl you pull out into traffic without looking and cause a fatal accident, the police aren’t going to say “oh you naughty boy, here’s a fine and a telling off”, they’ll throw you in jail faster than you can say sorry, that’s how TMP should be treated, if you cause a wreck, whether by spawning in or not, you should except the responsibility and not blame everything else. It doesn’t matter if ghost mode is there or not, you should always treat it that ghost mode isn’t there and make your choice based on that fact. Also, measuring by distance, sure may sound easy, but it subject to situation, I mean, if you spawn in traffic, unless the distance allows you to reset in time, you’re screwed, if that’s the case it should always be the distance it takes to get a 120 tonne trailer from a dead stop to road speed (50-60 mph) with the weakest engine in the game, because there are so many variables to take into account that it’s not worth relying on, doesn’t matter if it’s timed or distance, there will be more situations where collision are enabled too soon and cause a wreck, no matter what is done. Tgis is is why I pioneer the idea of not allowing the player a chance to spawn into the server until they have successfully moved their truck and trailer fully off the roadway and sit stationary till they are connected, that way it eliminates the need for ghost mode and keeps people from spawning physically on the road impeding traffic. It’s a win win, people can load into autosaves, there is no worry about being damaged by someone spawned on the road, admins only have to deal with those who don’t move and those who don’t merge properly, which is done anyway.
  6. That’s where this suggestion falls short, a time limit means you know exactly how long you have before collisions are re-enabled, everyone knows that, so, say you’re driving along and see someone spawn in, you know they have x time to get out of the road before collisions are enabled, the issue with working it by distance is knowing how far you’ve driven. I mean, have you drives 100m or 1000m? there’s no real way to measure that, and anyone else around can’t either, so it because not only a hazard, but a tool for trolls to use by spawning in busy areas and driving the exact distance into traffic causing chaos. Also, I have to agree with everyone else here, what you did was easily deemed reckless driving and should warrant you with a month ban if not longer, if you know you’re going to spawn on a busy road where traffic is heavy, don’t. Sometimes it’s easier to cancel the load and f7 enter, repair, the teleport to a garage you know is quiet, grab a new load and carry on, less risk, more reward. Yes it’s a game, but a lot of us use the word SIMULATOR to it’s actual meaning and so play the game like it’s reality. Also, causing misery for others because of your own stupidity isn’t funny, I mean, flip it on it’s head, would you find it funny if you were in their position, especially if you’ve driven 1000+ miles wth no damage and then get some kid who can’t move his truck within a time limit and then causes damage to your truck and trailer, practically destroying up to and hour plus of work? I don’t think so. Yes haha someone glitched out, whatever, if you were around when TMP was just starting out and EP was an absolute hellhole, then you won’t find it funny, I’ve seen trucks get thrown a good 500m off the road by a troll or some idiot who’s refusing to move out of the road and causing tailbacks that would stretch through Rotterdam and through the ports in the UK. At at the end of the day it’s about having respect for your fellow trucker, whether you take it seriously or not. It’s not 2-3 minutes for EVERYONE, if you run your game on an SSD or have a fully built machine with maxed out ram, then sure you can load in and out that quick, I timed my new machine and it took between 5 and 10 minutes to go from mp to sp, move off a road, park, save, exit, reload mp, login, wait for a space, then rejoin. It’s safer, but more annoying and time consuming, especially when you could have another troll sat around the next turn and you have to practically go through it all again. If everything could be done WITHOUT quitting the server, then it’s a win win. Also, just FYI, I’ve actually seen people spawn in ahead of me and been able to avoid a collision and gain no damage, so calling someone names for spawning in and causing a wreck isn’t fair because there is more instances where a collision is avoidable than not, yes sometimes someone can spawn right in front of you, but as long as they are instantly no collided, then no issue, if you hit someone who’s spawn in and you can see them stopped ahead of you, it’s technically your fault if a collision occurs because you can make evasive manoeuvres to avoid a collision. So the blame falls on both parties, the person who spawns in, shouldn’t be there, the person who hits them, probably had time to avoid an accident. i mean it’s simple, if you hit “load auto save” you should be temporarily taken out of the server and put in hold, once loaded in, a prompt should appear telling you to “move your vehicle off the road way”, and a time limit is applied, if complied with, you are reconnected to the server. Failure to do so can result in termination of server connection and an automatic flag is sent to admins and is placed on your record, more than 5 failures to comply can result in investigation and either a warning or a server ban. That way, it allows everyone the chance to reorganise themselves without needing to quit back to singleplayer to do something that can be easily coded in.
  7. I get what you are saying, but a simulator isn’t about who gets to their destination the fastest or with the least amount of time or damage, it’s about enjoying the experience, not tearing around causing wrecks to get on a leaderboard, if this were a racing sim like project cars, forza and gran turismom then sure, knock yourself out, but this is a driving sim, not a race sim. I get that without new features, it gets tiresome, but giving trolls another excuse to just bomb around ramming people and being a nuisance isn’t the right direction, may as well play gta online, get some mobile operation centres and some kids with homing launchers and drive around because that’s essentially what it’ll turn into, except instead of rocket launchers, you’ll have cars, trucks with and without trailers, all acting like juveniles. THAT is what will put more people off from playing, not the lack of new stuff, SCS adds things, TMP adds them to online, TMP adds their own stuff, it’s a simple chain that, most of the time, works.
  8. The thing is, there’s a line between making a game more attractive to new players and making the game a competitive mess. The thing that annoys me the most is when someone makes a mod or a game and then tries updating it regularly with unnecessary content to try and get newer players interested, if someone is into driving around in a simulated world and just have fun, then fair enough, but if someone isn’t interested at all, you shouldn’t try and force the game to fit what those people may or may not want. it’s the age old thing, majority of minority, if more people want a more competitive, race around the map as fast as possible to earn top spot on a leaderboard, then fair enough, add it in, but if the majority want more things like better lag protection or better rules or new scout vehicles etc, then those things should be a priority and if those things entice new blood to want to join in, then that’s the added bonus, focus on your current fan base, not the potential fan base because chances are, you’ll lose more regular players than you gain in terms of new players.
  9. -1 there really isn’t much need for a leaderboard for game wide stats, if it was for say VTC members, so you can see who has done the most within a certain period of time, then fair enough, but trying to make the server “competitive” is a recipe for disaster, it’ll literally feed the trolls with something to do and will make some people drive more erratically just to put their score on the board. Like me I said, if this was just a VTC tool that VTC members can gain access to, then this will work fine, but if it’s server based then no way, especially as there’s such a potential for fake drops and other invalid data that can make things far worse.
  10. All that needs to be done is that TMP host links to free recording softwares, simple, no viruses (although I’ve never encountered any recording software that had any). Yes the auto auto system is a bit iffy, but with time it’s get refined and fixed. I just don’t see how TMP could create a client side recording software and force everyone to use it. It’s not as simple as it sounds.
  11. there is currently a server side system that does exactly this. Besides, it’s not that difficult to download a free recording software, buy a cheap external hard drive, set recordings to overwrite after x time unless manually stopped and away you go, only difficult part is editing, rendering and uploading evidence. in order for your idea to work, TMP would have to basically dedicate a server to record every players gameplay, store that data, transfer x time length to the users files, Prost rendered and basically all in place with url status etc so that admins can see the footage... that’s a lot of work for something you can do simply yourself...
  12. Personally I’m against thing like this because it can distract people to the point that they can run off the road or ram into someone. I for one would like to see a reduction in chat use, especially while the vehicle is in motion.
  13. -1 there really isn’t any need, all that is required is to ask your online friends if they are playing and if so, where they are and on which server. What would be useful in a way is to have those shown as friends to show up as a different coloured marker and name tag, just for easier identification, but to live track them etc, it’s not as easy as it seems
  14. @LSPD Gamer you answered your own question really, the reason this should be a suggestion addressed to SCS is because the only way to currently “get” dual trailer wheels is to save edit, which can have major consequences if done poorly by someone who doesn’t know what they are doing. If if it was native in the game, meaning SCS added standard trailers that had dual wheels, then the requirement of save editing is gone, every player on the server would have the same wheels and tires on their trailer and importantly, it would look natural.
  15. It’s because it’s essentially splicing things that were never designed to work together, into one thing, which can cause the game to freak out and crash or cause graphical issues. If SCS added standard trailers with dual wheel options, then it’ll be easier to swap the trailer rims with truck rims without causing any glitches in the matrix, but personally, most trailers I see regularly are just single axels. It’s like some truck modifications that are done through save editing, it may seem okay, but it depends what the consequences are for those who see it and not drive it, I mean, the trailer mods that do work, such as the weight mods and the trailer swaps are okay because they use properties of the trailers ingame and just apply them to different loads, changing the wheels on the other hand takes a truck part that isn’t supposed to be found on a trailer and puts it there, that’s obviously going to cause issues, it’s like putting truck wheels on the scout or scout wheels on a truck, it’ll cause more harm than good.
  16. It’s not that it changes the behaviour, it’s more that it makes the trailer look abnormally wide and tall because essentially, most mods/save edits that add dualies to the trailer take stock truck wheels and slap them on over the standard trailer wheels. And yes, depending upon the quality of the “mod”, it can effect the trailers stability not only on your screen but more so on others. At least from I’m from (the uk) there’s a mix of dualies and singles depending on the trailers use, the general rule is, the heavier th3 cargo or the longer the trailer, the high the chances it’s going to be a dual setup. Most trailers I see personally are single, with just 2 wheels per axel, but the more specialised and heavier trailers, like the flatbeds, lowloaders and extra tall trailers, they all have dualies, 4 wheels per axel. As to answer why, OP, you get kicked, I’m damn sure a while back trailer edits that involve the wheels were banned because of issues with glitches and the chrome rims causing lag and strain on the server. Personally, dual trailers are more of a American thing than a European thing because we normally transport less weight per trailer than the USA
  17. That still requires reverse engineering SCS’ code to add something that can be simplified by removing what causes the lag, the light cast. You remove that, then it’s the best of both worlds, people can still see you have beacons on which is realistic, but at the same time you’re cutting lag. But lets face it, in busy areas there’s more than one reason for lag, anything from whattexture you are using to headlights to dlc items, to how much chrome is being loaded in... the list goes on. I mean, chrome is one of the biggest FPS stealers, I’ve personally tested driving a fully chromed truck in a busy area verses a fully painted truck and I lost over 10fps driving with chrome and seeing other chromed out trucks. Yes beacons add add to the lag, but they’re not the sole reason, everything and anything effects FPS, like I said before, even the smallest thing like shadow settings or weather or what dlc components you have installed, all that adds to it and the tip of the cherry stalk is beacon lights.
  18. To be fair, this won’t stop people being wrongfully reported or banned by admin. my issue with this is that it’s fairly easy to edit times and dates and change evidence to make it look more recent. What makes more sense is to cache player IDs on each server so that someone physically cannot report someone with old evidence because admins can simply look at the ID log and see the last date that that ID accessed the server and if it doesn’t match the evidence, the report is deny and a temporary ban of 2 days is applied to the person who sent in the report for falsifying reports. It’s like making a fake police report, eventually it’ll bite you back and you’ll get arrested for it, if that applied here, people will be more likely to provide correct evidence and report accordingly.
  19. Personally, if random events can be synced for all players, then good because it’ll add another variable to online that’ll make it feel more like real life. i mean sure, it’s great to have super clean, empty roads, but that’s no fun nor is it really realistic. If if it was made that say TMP could pick and choose which events are enabled or disabled, then that could make it a lot easier, I mean, it’ll be cool to see how people will react when, let’s say, a major road is closed or let’s say one lane is blocked due to a crash or road works, it’ll be a lot more fun. So honestly, if it can be synced and custom set for mp purposes, then leave them in, but if it can’t be done, then disable it because it will be dangerous, especially when it’s in ETS2 where player count and traffic is much busier.
  20. The thing with this type of suggestion is, is that it’s subject to personal opinion, there’s arguments for and against but the ultimate question that has to be asked is this: if we remove the Scout and stop people driving certain routes without a trailer, is that going to instantaneously stop all trolling, all ramming, all juvenile behaviour? Highly unlikely. in the days before the scout was even a thing, you had to worry about trucks with no trailers, trucks with trailers, blockers, rammer, basically everything that we still have to deal with to this day, so honestly, no matter what you remov3 and what you kick and ban from being driven on the roads, it isn’t going to get rid of the constant issue, the people who troll and act like spoilt kids, unless they are taken care of and shown 0% mercy, then maybe, just maybe, we could get some actual order and realism from TMP, but till then, no amount of removing things is going to change what goes on, it’s going to come a time where the only thing we can do is ‘walk’ around and teleporttrailers to destinations like some click 2D game.
  21. +1 especially if the buttons get centred better so it’s easier to adjust on the move, also a night glow wouldn’t go a miss and a selectable display colour. You can even go as far as to add a feature where the name of the player talking on that channel is displayed, which can help with pinpointing those abusing the CB . All of this will make using the CB a lot easier, especially when on the move.
  22. This is a neat idea, but there are so drawbacks, for those of us who play with names off, this wouldn’t make any difference. Personally, what would be better is if someone enters ghost mode, then something very visual occurs, either their vehicle goes transparent or has a persistent warning tag till they come out ofghost mode. A small marker or colour change on the players name tags doesn’t really add much from a distance that you would see another vehicle, I mean sure if you’ve got a 40 inch monitor or play in VR then it’s easier to see at distances, but for most, in order to even see or make out tags on someone’s nameplate, you have to be pretty close and by that time, your mind is already tricked into thinking that the vehicle is solid so you slam on the brakes. I mean, even a big bold letter warning sign that could say “GHOST MODE ACTIVE” that flickers between red, orange and black, that would be more noticeable at long distance, than a little symbol that can potentially get lost in the sea of colours ahead.
  23. The thing is, it’s a bug with SCS more than TMP because the time progression ratio in TMP is much much slower than SCS coded for Singleplayer, the market constantly gets out of sync because the game can’t figure out how you’ve done a job that takes 8hrs normally (which progresses time and the economy) in less than 2hrs, so it either gives you the same jobs or bugs out and doesn’t spawn any new loads. And seeing as TMP is an “unofficial mod” SCS are less likely to fix it unless it effects the normal game it’s nothing really to do with them. The only recommendation I can give is if you and your friends don’t mind starting out from the same garage every session, then just leave Force_Economy_Reset as 1 in the ini, that’ll keep refreshing the job market every time you quit the game and rejoin, which is fine as long as you don’t have a server crash or get disconnected because it will reset and cancel all current loads. But it’s the most consistent way to keep the job market refreshed. Alsofor the record, it isn’t as easy as the WoT jobs, they’re web based and don’t effect the game files until you login, whereas resetting the economy effects every part of the game from time to current load to current position, so to just put a big reset button and call it a fix won’t really work, it’ll have to be an SCS recode to allow the economy to be reset without effecting time of day and location which effects current loads.
  24. The simple thing I do is, if no jobs show on the market but do in the city, I just F7-Enter to the nearest service station, that automatically forces the time forward which will reset the market, or you can simply drive out of town a little, pull over and teleport back into town. The best east thing to do with friends is to co ordinate garage locations, that way if one of you has an issue and has to force reset their economy, they can still teleport to the nearest city/garage because you all unlock the same ones F7-Enter isn’t just reserved for recovery from accidents, you can use it whenever you like, it may cost a small charge each time but it’s cheaper than intentionally wrecking your truck and having to spend thousands on repair bills.
  25. I’m pretty sure that how the 18 speed works (bare in mind I have a g27 and a SKRS shifter), is that high and low make up your gears, so 1L and 1H are 2 out of 18. How I have my shifter set up is I have it on Eaton Fuller 18 speed in the settings, that then makes the first position, further east to the left and forward, low low/low high, the the second position is reverse, third position is 1st/7th and so on, I don’t know if it’s different for a g25 because it’s an older wheel that both the g27 and g29. But if it still doesn’t work, try manually selecting each gear in the settings menu anD assign each position to which gear you need. Yes an SKRS is expensive, but it comes in so useful because of its weight and having range and split control on the same controller frees up space elsewhere for other controls.
