  1. It’s not that everyone wants to race around like it’s some race game, a lot, in fact, the vast majority of people who loved the rules in EU2 played there because it felt more real, the unpredictability, the chaos, the freedom to do what you want and not be restrained yet still having a respect for the rules. I would like to also point out that ETS2 and ATS are not true simulators, a true simulator would make you do everything manually, from having to do maintenance on your truck to having to get out and lift the landing gear or pump fuel manually. ETS2 and ATS are casual/arcade simulators where there are aspects that are true simulation, but there’s also a lot that cater to the casual player who wants to drive a truck but don’t want to play ultra realistically. I mean by definition in terms of the gaming world, a “Simulator” can be anything from super Arcady to super realistic, just browse steam and you’ll see what I mean. the simulation servers are to annoying, with the limiter happening any chance to keep up with friends or to be able to drive multiple runs in 2 hours, plus they are a huge magnet to trolls, speed hackers and griefers. Whereas the arcade servers are too boring, where you can go at whatever speed, but there’s no danger, no what if moments, hence why the servers essentially are like ghost towns. i mean I bet that there will be just as many, if not more, reports made with the new setup as there were with the EU2 rules, slowing people down does not solve the overall issue, you can make everyone drive at 10MPH everywhere and you’ll still have trolls, hackers and accidents happening, it’s part and parcel of a multiplayer, where there’s people, there is the undesirables causing chaos and ruining the game for everyone.
  2. Please don’t assume that because your thoughts and feelings as a veteran driver are as such, that EVERY veteran driver should share your views and opinions, same as assuming that because someone wants a specific setup for a server, does not mean they are reckless or a troll, as I said, just because you drive in a certain manner, doesn’t mean that it’s shared by everyone, a multiplayer means the meeting of multiple people and multiple play styles.
  3. But the thing is, it’s NEVER been serious, TMPs original purpose was to be able to drive trucks, with friends and enjoy the game as it is with friends. Bringing in all sorts of undesirable things like, capped speed limits on 2 servers, no collisions with uncapped speed limits on the other two takes away any fun that you have with friends. I can understand the whole “dealing with chaos” situation, but there are far simpler ways of fixing the problems instead of just slapping no Collide and limiters left, right and centre. At at the end of the day it’s a game, a game that is practically 50/50 arcade and simulation. I mean surely it’s easy to see that the most popular server was EU2 where you had collisions, no limiter but had the same rules as EU 1 and 3, so why essentially remove what is undoubtedly the best mix for all play styles in favour of the play styles that are the least played? It doesn’t make logical sense, EU1 was “simulation”, was mostly half full at best, EU4 was “No Collisions”, yet was almost always less than 300 players... it doesn’t make sense to force everyone to play that way. If the goal is to dwindle the number of total players playing TMP, then mission accomplished in my opinion.
  4. You’re an exception to the friendly drivers on EU2 rule in my book tbh, especially tarring people who want to have a hybrid arcade/simulation experience with those who just want to cause pain, misery and destruction.
  5. @Joao Rodrigues it’s people like you that make TMP toxic, just because people don’t have the same views or drive the same way as you so, does not make them reckless or trolls, I’ve met more respectable and well mannered drivers on EU 2 than I ever did playing on the “ EU1 simulation server”. Like i I said before, there are far more people who use TMP as an escape from the Realism and stresses in SP, In fact, if you want a fully realistic experience, you should play SP with realistic mods installed.
  6. For me personally I have to agree with the majority of people here who say that this is a bad idea. Yes having a more “simulation” focus is a good thing, but the implementation is way off, most of us agree that we use TMP not to go troll or to ram or to do a billion miles an hour and do a quadruple kick flip in a truck, (although it’s still hilarious to watch), but we using TMP to have fun with friends and to just drive how we want to drive. The question has has to be asked, why does the TMP staff think EU2 was such a popular server? From my opinion it’s because it was a good medium server, you still had speed limiters in cities and collisions, but you could drive how you want to drive, which was enjoyable and at the same time a test of driving skill and reaction time to something that happens ahead of you. Making 2 servers speed limited with collisions and 2 without limiters but without collisions just doesn’t make sense, yes, before anyone says it, ETS2 and ATS are simulator games, but as a good Youtuber once said, they are not true simulators, they are “arcade simulators” where you have aspects from one genre and aspects from the other, that’s what makes the games so much fun, that’s their premise essentially and with TMPs new setup, I feel it’s safe to say that what’s happening isn’t true to the games actual format, otherwise why can you turn off realistic settings, fines, speed limiters and set your stability super high? Yes es getting rid of the “GTA” players as people like to call them is good, but honestly it can be done by simply changing the physical rules and making punishments harsher for certain rules on certain servers, it’s really not that hard. As with save editing, well, having “native” trailer lengths is comic really, the old “triples”, done correctly, such as b triple (a b double with an extra short trailer added to the front), wasn’t an issue for anyone, collisions were fine, hitboxes, fine. It does feel like TMP is taking every ounce of fun and individuality out of MP and making it a glorified “play Single Player with friends” situation, and I have to agree that with such big changes, it should be put to a public vote before implementation to get people’s opinions of the changes and what people actually want, instead things were added and changed out of the blue without much warning and then people are expected to go, oh this is fine, without question, only it seems to have predictably backfired spectacularly. Dont get me wrong, trying to push for a more simulator feel is a good thing, but it has to be done in a way that caters for all drivers and currently, for drivers like me who enjoy relaxing and cruising around being able to drive at a speed I’m comfortable at and being able to watch chaos unfold out of my window, the current setup doesn’t work and I’m afraid will lead to an increased number of trolls and trolling going on with those playing by the rules getting screwed over time and time again while the rule breakers drive away laughing their heads off.
  7. I would say it’s a bug currently, I too experienced this where the barriers were up for me yet down for others and vice versa, I initially thought it was people trolling by blocking the crossing but when people were literally driving through the train and the barriers on my screen, hinted that they’ve possibly become desynced again.
  8. Just out of curiosity, does anyone have any information on whether shader mods and mirror FOV(Field of View) mods are allowed In TMP and if so, which mods specifically?
  9. Can we please have an admin in Dortmund EU2 for trolls blocking the highway out of town both directions.

  10. The thing is, it’s a case of the minority spoiling it for the majority. I mean, yes a speed limit might help, or it might just make those impatient people ram others or because of forced limits, it takes just 1 person trying to overtake and not back off to cause a pile up. I just think that the best solution is to make poor overtaking and rules on overtaking more defined and stricter to combat the issue, speed limits just mean more traffic bunched up making them a perfect target for trolls and hackers.
  11. To be fair, it’s not necessarily speed that’s the main factor in accidents, in fact, what I’ve witnessed and studied is that the slower you go on C-D the more likely you are to be rammed or end up flipped on your side. Its all to do with the fact that people who drive C-D see a slow moving vehicle, get impatient and so floor it and just go for a overtake, regardless of whether there’s oncoming traffic or a tight turn coming up, resulting in someone ending up flipped or up and embankment. Hell I’ve been driving at exactly 70MPH on the straights and still been passed as if I’m doing 30, what’s even worse is those people, who don’t overtake but keep flashing their lights and blowing their horn and shouting in chat at you to go faster. C-D is just a toxic places sometimes and no matter what speed limits are I forced, there will be accidents still, many road blocks still and the situation won’t change, especially with people not paying attention and being impatient, it’s always going to be the same until SCS decide to renovate the road and make it a dual carriageway or something.
  12. To be fair, the only issue I see with doubles is that for the average player, it’s extremely difficult to reverse a double out of a situation. Most think that doubles in highly highly congested areas will equal chaos of biblical proportions, but in reality, I think doubles would be no more dangerous than a standard truck and trailer, yes the extra length and turning space is difficult with tight junctions and corners, but looking at how some people drive, they struggle to negotiate these areas even with a normal trailer. Therisk of running a double will surely put off most people because of the challenge associated (and it would limit people’s ability to do warp factor 9 everywhere), but still, I think trialing all access doubles should be a consideration and restricted them, especially if SCS does implement doubles into places like Germany as they said they were, then the restriction would hamper a load of cities that SCS would then allow doubles to be taken to and from. As for higher difficulty doubles parking, as others explained, there is a setting that you can change, either through the console ingame or through your ETS2 config files that adds more difficult doubles parking.
  13. @WomenDriverzUnite The best thing to do in that situation is to either use a recording software such as shadowplay, fraps or even OBS to record your journeys and in the event that someone does ram you, you can submit that recorded evidence straight to admins who can then take appropriate action. Furthermore, if you know the name of the person who hit you, open tab, right click to get the cursor up, select that persons name and the right click, scroll down to report and then select the appropriate reasons for the report. Lastly, if your truck hasn’t glitched through the ground or hasn’t landed on its side, you can open chat with “y” and type /fix and that will repair your truck, but it doesn’t repair trailer or cargo, but at least your truck is drivable. I would always suggest doing short journeys till you have a good amount of money at hand so that if you have to repair your truck, you don’t run out of money every single time.
  14. TruckersMP has helped me get through tough times with mental and physical health problems over the last 4+ years and helped me find a virtual escape from reality. Also TMP has helped me find amazing content creators that publish some great and enjoyable videos and have inspired me to start my own content creation project this year. But most importantly, TMP has become a great place to feel like part of something special, something that very few gaming communities actually have, from friendly and helpful staff, to courteous and nice truckers, to me it’s the only community I’ve ever felt humbled to be a part of for so many years.
  15. Happy birthday Truckersmp! #TMP5

  16. Thank you TMP staff For 2 days and 4 convoys filled with great trucking moments. I am forever thankful to be a part of such a great and respectful community.

Not to forget, I want to thank all drivers who drove the last two days for being professional and making the event so much fun.

Thank you tmp and and thank you for 5 years of trucking memories, I hope for many more years of grist trucking memories while part of such an awesome community!

  17. I just want to say thank you to the Event Team for organising and running today’s #TMP5 convoys in ATS. For me it’s the first couple of proper convoys I’ve been able to take part in and I can safely say the most enjoyable and well organised. Can not wait for ETS2 convoys tomorrow. Also just want to say a thank you to every driver who drove today as there was very few “incidents” during both convoys.

    Horn

Honestly, any sort of restriction should apply more to air horns than anything else, especially when you get someone with 5 screamer air horns on their truck, it’s annoying. if you’re putting a general restriction, then 10-15 seconds is fine, there’s no need to hold the horn down continuously for more than that.
  19. -1 if someone enters a value that causes instability and causes them to crash or glitch out and cause accidents, then there are plenty of rules currently in place to deal with it included save editing rules and reckless driving. Like most people, I have my settings at 0.5 for truck and trailer to a custom slider setting which feels safe yet realistic at the same time.
  20. Suggestion Name: Revamp general overtaking rules Suggestion Description: As it stands, the current overtaking rules do not seem to work as effectively or as efficiently as they should and so I feel I have a solution to aid all drivers. Any example images: N/A Why should it be added?: As we all know by now, the leading cause of most carnage and annoyance is people being extremely impatient and attempting to overtake when it is clearly not clear to do so. So, as someone who has fallen victim to many wrecks caused by dangerous overtaking, I feel that the rules on overtaking should be made more defined and punishments made more severe to counteract these issues. For a start, safe overtaking distances should be extended to at least 2 truck lengths before the overtaking vehicle should signal and move back into the correct lane, a lot of drivers seem to feel cutting immediately back in is better than hanging out in the opposite lane of traffic. Secondly, on roads such as Calais-Duisburg, any overtaking should only take place in areas where the road is clear marked with a dashed or broken centre line, much like in real life, this marking represents the optimal area for overtaking where road conditions and visibility is at its best. Speaking of the C-D road, overtaking should be limited to areas where there are clear sight lines of oncoming traffic without sharp corners. For those being overtaken, especially on small roads like C-D, maintaining a consistent speed and moving over near the outer part of the lane nearest to guardrails and grass verges is recommended, mostly because when someone inevitably overtakes at the wrong time, having breathing room between you and them as well as a potential escape route will reduce chances of damage or being flipped or glitched out by any impacts sustained. Now, as for punishments, improper overtaking should be considered as a high priority, seeing as it is one of the leading causes of pile ups and dangerous that are attached to such situations. If someone is found to be overtaking dangerously and consistently causing accidents, the punishment should be an immediate 7 day ban. If someone overtakes by off-roading through the grass and they are NOT avoiding a collision but performing an overtaking, this should be punished with admin discretion depending on the immediate dangers at that time, ranging from kick to 3 day ban. Now to to clear up a few discrepancies I have noticed with punishments associated with dangerous overtaking and reckless driving, as long as someone isn’t causing an accident or is avoiding some sort of collision that happens ahead of them and they avoid said incident by overtaking, no punishment should be applied, if said person avoids an accident that they could stop for, for example, a accident that has already cause a small traffic jam with trucks queued up, then the person should be punished for unsafe overtaking. i hope you take my suggestion into consideration and if there are any amendments or additional rules/regulations imposed upon this subject, feel free to discuss.
  21. To be fair I kind of like this idea. Yes it’s not necessarily required currently, but who’s to say that SCS isn’t going to change trailer damage mechanics in a future update making it much harder to drive a damaged trailer than a fully repaired one. As for currently, as long as there’s requirements such as having an active job, the damage is more than a certain percentage and there only being a finite number of uses during a active job, then yes it can still work. so from me +1.
  22. Actually, it would make it less useful for trolls because then people can see who is or isn’t in ghost mode. Primarily, the current full truck makes it hard to define where the edges of no Collide zones are and thus causes clipping and glitching to occur. Yes, in a civilised world where everyone has the same common goal, getting people to learn mutual consideration is perfect and the current system works for that, but that’s not the current world, because it’s so easy to get repaired, because there’s no physical consequence that really does damage to the perpetrator, the current system works in the favour of the troll and against average joe, at least with a defined ghost “texture” when someone is in ghost mode will work the opposite. Until TMP has its own economy, license system and other such real world needs, trolls don’t have much to worry about, the average joe is the one who gets screwed. As for this idea, it’s 99% perfect for the situation, the only thing I would add is either a colour code for name tags for those in and out of ghost or a big bold marker in the persons tag stating that they are in ghost mode.
  23. @chipmunk197the thing is, it’s all about time zone, for you, there might only be 30 people online, but fast forward a few hours and that might reach near 1000. Plus,, as I said before if the limiter made you sla, on the brakes and drive 35 for the duration, then I’d agree but with the limiter just letting the truck roll and naturally slow down over distance, to me, that’s fine, especially in urban areas where what few peop,e there are on the server tend to group up, just because numbers are low doesn’t excuse you from the rules of the road.
  24. The thing is, you shouldn’t be hauling heavy loads at 75-80 mph, if someone desynced or flipped in front of you, you’d do more than just ruin your fuel consumption. Besides, it’s easy to reduce consumption without losing overall top speed, you just need manual gears and perfect timing. Ultimately, I’d agree with you if the limiter literally forced your truck to go from 80-55 in a second or two through brakes, but to my knowledge, it’s a gradual decrease, so unless you do hit the brakes and slow to that speed, as soon as you’re out of the area you can accelerate again, and if you use manual gears and time it correctly, you don’t use any more fuel than you would normally.
  25. First of all, it all depends upon how the speed limiter works because of its tile based, not asset based, then I’m afraid nothing can be done, especially if city roads pass through those tiles. secondly, one day when ATS has expanded and is on the same level as ETS2, then you’ll be thankful for the limiters. Thirdly, to the average joe who enjoys driving and not racing, being limited for just a short period of time is kind of realistic because sometimes highways can have speed restrictions for certain sections because of local issues, so just because SCS doesn’t simulate it in the form of speed signs, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. Fourth, EU1 did NOT die in a week as you claim, I can say from personal experience that EU1 lived for a few months until the content dried up, hence why almost all servers are empty, not because of speed restrictions etc. Fifth, NCZs are crucial in TMP, without them, it’ll be like the old ETS2 days where trailers would ping into space because of multiple people picking up, impatient drivers ramming others out of the way and just general chaos. So from me, I say no to removing limiters, adjusting them so that speed lost isn’t that much, maybe, but when it goes a time when ATSMP comes back to life, they should be reduced, mostly for driver safety, you don’t want to be exiting into a city and be rammed by a troll doing 90mph into you.
