...the low activity is very minimal within the TruckersMP servers...

The great thing is ETS2 is still rising up in its peak ever player count. 4 months ago it reached 69k concurrent players. ATS peaked at 19k which was when it released 8 years ago. It does look like ATS' player count is slowly on the rise, looking at the Steam Database charts, however I doubt it'll ever beat ETS2. As to why it never took off like ETS2 did, I don't know. Of course the TMP servers can only take from the pool of players who already own the game, and it'd only be a proportion at that. I do agree, it would be nice to see those servers fill up more, though

  2. Personally I'd argue against this for the pure fact that malicious links are a big thing these days. Couldn't expect a game moderator to click these links to find out if it's something they should moderate. Comes with all sorts of risks like a moderators account being compromised in some of the worse case scenarios.

And why reporters should be removed the right to appeal if they think the punishment given isn't correct? Why should the punishment length be hidden from the reported? Are punishment length hidden in real life when you open a case against someone and a sentence is given against the "criminal"?

Fine but why removing the existing capability to provide feedback about some decision which might not be correct?

Really sounds like you guys are desperately trying to reduce the amount of work you're getting! And you're doing that by preventing people from raising more issues. Which is a shame!

Ban lengths are set based on guidance given by the team. If a player is being punished against the rules, what's the problem?

If an admin has rejected a report and not issued a ban, again it's for a reason.

We aren't talking about criminals ingame are we? We are talking about players in game who in reality did no harm by ramming you.

I disagree, and that's fine. However, there's one thing I still can't understand: why now? What happened, aside from the obvious, to make management knock their heads together and decide that after 9 years of possible abuse, they've finally had enough?

The two "serious" incidents are, I believe, when online matters have escalated to the real world. Such incidents are only possible due to lapses in personal security. If your personal information is that discoverable, that's a serious problem - you need to fix it. Again, the removal of a name would never have prevented said users from doing what they did. It's the fact that the user's personal information was found and exploited. This is nothing to do with TruckersMP and is the sole responsibility of admins.

Other forms of abuse such as death threats and "I hate you," among others, differ entirely and are a "part of the job." A substantial number of moderators across numerous games receive abuse for their work, and yet, the majority of them don't hide away - FiveM is a key example of this.

Because that's what's been chosen? It really should have always been the case anyways. Not sure why you even need to argue about it. In most places you're lucky to get a reason or evidence to support the ban unlike here lol.

Anyone can be a clear target if you designate them to be. Anyone can disperse abuse to whom ever they feel. The meet the team page has an entire list of possible people. If someone was determined enough, they'd just pick a staff member at random and go to town.

Because it's possible doesn't mean that has to be ok and the norm. Staff members still have the right to not have to take abuse, regardless of whether you say they should or not.

Game moderators should get thicker skin and bare it. Can't take it, ignore it. Like every other human being.

Nothing has changed that'll prevent anything. So what's the point?

Ban someone - they don't like it? They send you insults? Blank it out? Millions of people get insulted daily - you don't see them running around hiding their names. Can't take it - bugger off, plain and simple.

Ignoring it is a part of the problem and doesn't resolve anything = they've been ignoring it for over 9 years. And you wonder why the turnover is fairly constant? Anything that is done to actually keep GMs here is a bonus in my book.

If you're really that fussed about the abuse you'll receive—don't become an admin. If you really think people are going to be happy about you banning them—you're delusional. People aren't supposed to insult others, but they still do. If you can't take it, don't be in a position to get it. Simply removing who banned someone isn't the magical cure management seems to think it is. Instead, it turns a once simple objective into a "guess-who" game. If someone really wants to track someone down and hurl abuse, they'll do it. Not having a name is no barrier to determination.

Just because someone can "take" having insults thrown at them for no good reason, doesn't mean they should have to take those insults when giving up many hours a week volunteering for a game that is basically a losing battle with the way a lot of players break the rules.

Imagine someone plastering all over your social media profiles, calling you a "p*do" and similar stuff all because they got banned from a game. A game which Game Moderators are trying their best to keep running the best they can. This happened to me, back when I was in Management here at TMP. While I didn't care about being called something I know I am not, It did bother me that others may see that and think otherwise of me, all because of someone who cannot control their anger and appeal a ban correctly. Anonymising should really have been a thing from the very beginning, players just don't like losing sight of what they've had for years. Everyone will get used to it - it'll be forgotten in times to come.

Sometimes you have to ride the rough sea to reach the brighter end, this is one of those changes.

The most harrowing "threat" being talked about is people getting death threats. A death threat is nothing more than a coward trying to act tough, and is exactly that—a threat. If someone somehow finds your personal information—it wasn't hidden well enough. If they come to your house, close the door and phone the police—it's not rocket science. None of what has changed will change anything; it'll just make the determined even more determined and the curious even more curious.

Just because someone is behind a computer screen does not mean they should be treated any less well than someone you meet on the street. A threat, or a physical punch up, either way you would come off as *words that cannot be said here.* (And no, I don't mean YOU, I just mean whoever said the threats.)

Game Moderators deserve respect. It's stressful and hard work no matter who you are.

As stated by the GM team already, they have internal rules and guidelines to follow. They aren't all best mates hanging out waiting to ban players 🤷‍♂️
I would assume the change was made because the average player causes a toxic environment when challenged about breaking a rule.

Can conform this is the case also, has been the case for many years. Just thinking about the comment in regards to the internal rules and guidelines.

Might be worth these being published in the rules section here on the forums. I cannot recall anything in there that wouldn't be ok for players to see. Players might actually also have some good suggestions that aren't in there and would help the general player base feel more confident about Game Moderation here at TMP. It's all about being as transparent as possible I guess.

  8. Something can be against the rules without it needing a ban being applied to a user. Looking at video 2, while it was reckless it wouldn't really have needed a ban as they are, in reality just being silly, It didn't hurt anyone. You weren't going fast and were well aware of what was going on around you which allowed you to stop in time. If they had cut you off in this instance, hitting your bumper or similar they would have more likely got a ban.

I recommend you go through this thought process:
    - Did they follow the traffic signs?
    - Did they cause a collision? (Yes: Report, No: They likely would have been kicked, no report needed)

  9. Generally, you won't get an answer on when a specific recruitment set will open. Game Moderation is a large team and also receives a large amount of applications that need processing. As players don't know what's happening in the background, it's possible past applications are still being processed or even there could already be a list of members waiting to join on the waiting list. Usually recruitments won't be opened until most of those have been processed and then a need is seen.

As for requirements, those will change from time to time, but you can view the past recruitment requirements to get an idea of the sort of things that may be looked for:
