Suggestion Name: Silent Mode / Dynamic Noise Level
Any example images: Not Available
Suggestion Description:
Introduce a “Silent Mode” feature that allows players to independently adjust or mute engine, tire, wind, and environmental sounds. When Silent Mode is enabled, unnecessary or loud noises are reduced, while the rest of the audio experience remains intact. This option gives users more control over how immersive or relaxed they want their gameplay to be.
Benefits & Contributions:
Accessibility: Makes the game more comfortable for players who are sensitive to constant engine or environment noise, or for those with hearing related sensitivities.
Improved Focus: Allows users to focus on driving physics, traffic, or convoy coordination without excessive audio clutter.
Flexible Gameplay: Perfect for streamers, content creators, or players who enjoy listening to music, podcasts, or voice chats in the background while driving.
Performance Optimization: Reducing certain sound layers may slightly improve performance on lower spec systems, giving smoother FPS in heavy traffic or busy areas.
Community Value: Shows attention to player comfort and customization, strengthening TruckersMP’s reputation as a player-focused platform.
Why should it be added?:
Currently, players only have general audio sliders, but there is no quick way to temporarily mute or reduce engine/environmental sounds without disabling the entire audio experience. Many long-haul players spend hours on the road and might want a quieter atmosphere from time to time especially during convoys, streams, or night drives. A dedicated “Silent Mode” would give them a seamless way to toggle between a fully immersive soundscape and a calm, low-noise environment without breaking the flow of the game.
Possible Question & Answer:
“Isn’t this already possible by lowering the in-game volume or muting the sound from Windows?”
While you can mute the whole game or tweak sliders in the settings, or even use the Windows volume mixer, this suggestion is about convenience and immersion not just silencing everything. A dedicated Silent Mode would dynamically lower only specific sound layers (engine, wind, environment) while keeping essential cues like navigation voices, horn warnings, or chat pings audible. Muting the game or system volume removes all sound entirely, which isn’t the same experience and breaks immersion. Having an in-game toggle or hotkey would allow players to switch instantly between a full-sound simulation and a relaxed, quiet atmosphere without leaving their session or digging through menus.
“Couldn’t this clutter the settings menu or complicate controls?”
Not at all the feature could be implemented as a simple checkbox or a single hotkey in the existing audio panel. It doesn’t require a complex interface or additional steps; it’s about giving players a quick, elegant tool that enhances usability rather than complicates it.
“Wouldn’t adding such an option consume unnecessary development time for a small feature?”
On the contrary, this is a lightweight quality of life improvement. It doesn’t change game physics or require server side resources, but it noticeably increases user comfort and customization. Small, well designed options like this often deliver a high satisfaction toeffort ratio, reinforcing the project’s reputation for listening to its community.
I wish all my fellow drivers good gaming and safe and enjoyable journeys.
Sincerely.
