    What happened

The vague way I can put it is that it crossed a line.

If your personal information is that discoverable, that's a serious problem - you need to fix it

Requiring online alter-egos and strict opsec around them would mean a team of maybe a handful of moderators instead of the 90+ we have.

Yeah, no. An outraged person only picked the person who banned them previously because they were known. Now there's no one to directly blame. Just because you remove the person who banned them, does that now mean they're no longer annoyed? If removing a name is the key to anger management, you may want to share your methods with every anger management counsellor.

It's not about anger management or trying to make them less annoyed. It's about preventing personal vendettas that are much much more likely to develop when people can assign that direct blame to a specific person. Based on my experience doing online content moderation in various capacities for over 12 years, there's a lot less abuse aimed at the moderators when their actions are not publicly attributed to them.

Anyone can be a clear target if you designate them to be. Anyone can disperse abuse to whom ever they feel. The meet the team page has an entire list of possible people. If someone was determined enough, they'd just pick a staff member at random and go to town.

Yes, but the issue generally comes from people taking the punishment personally and wanting to go after the person responsible. Going after a stranger who may not have anything to do with it other than doing the same tasks in general is much less likely.

As far as i know, in Case a Player/User is not acting in a "civilized manner", TruckersMP is able to take appropriate Action against this Guy!

Prefer to use preventative measures instead of reactive ones, especially when in some cases it has escalated beyond things done online.

If you drive along C-D during peak hours, I can pretty much bet that you'll come across at least one admin.

The point is not to make moderators faceless and anonymous. The point is to stop giving a clear target to people that don't take punishments in a civilized manner.

Or another reason I've not foreseen?!

There's a couple of things. First, the bans prevent players from playing regardless of where the ban was issued. Tipping the scale from more bans from web reports to more bans in-game isn't going to change the overall rate of bans issued in the short term.

Second, while there's a lot of incidents that are unfortunately missed, the vast majority do follow the rules so you're unlikely to notice an impact on the concurrent players regardless of what happens with punishments. It's easy to forget that most people don't even drive on C-D at any given time (right now it's about 28% of players on Sim 1).

I also wish there was a way you as a player you could know if a report has been submitted against you (that hasn’t been reviewed yet) let’s just say there was a couple of incidents last week where people said “rec” in the chat that although would be a soft ban you still have to wait a good week possibly two to know if you are getting banned or not.

I believe we tried that but the results of it were near-entirely negative (though I don't remember the details). It's better to avoid having long delays in the first place, but it might be a long road to get there.

Congratulations on the release! It finally happened 🙂

For some reason, the new launcher installer did not create any Desktop/Start Menu links, also leaving the old one intact. So I have to find a new one in AppData/Local.

There should be a Squirrel-Shortcut.log file in that same folder; that should shed some light on that failure.
