Greetings! We’re now approaching the end of February, which means it's time for our monthly convoy! On the occasion, we’ve decided to take you on a journey across the latest ETS2 map DLC - Road to the Black Sea! Join us this Sunday 23 February 2020 at 18:00 UTC (Alternative Timezones). Starting our journey at one of the largest borders (northbound of Edirne), we will be crossing through Turkey, Bulgaria, and Romania. In these countries, we will explore some of the most beautiful roads and incredible views that the Road to the Black Sea features. The convoy duration is estimated to be 90 minutes. It may be longer if you are towards the rear of the convoy. No breaks are scheduled, but you are welcome to pull into a safe place should you require a rest. Sound plays a very important role in interactive games, which is why we are very excited to introduce a new sound engine to the worlds of Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator in the near future. FMOD is a proprietary sound effects engine that will allow us to make really dynamic and complex audio. We have been working on implementing it for a long time already, and our sound designer has already poured hundreds of hours into implementing new vehicle sounds. Eventually, the changes to our soundscape will be more profound as we plan to revisit ambient sound sources all around the environment, this is planned to appear in the game through a series of follow-up updates. The feedback we receive from our community will surely play an important role in how we tune and tweak the sfx in future updates, we expect it to take some iterations. Another part of the community that might be excited (or nervous) for such a change is our modders. Honestly, they will need to start from scratch to plug their sounds back into the game, as the changes in data structures are considerable. This update will make most existing sound mods incompatible. The silver lining is that the new wealth of features in the sound library will allow for way more fidelity especially with vehicle sounds, so we hope that the deep changes we are coming with will be appreciated. FMOD offers a free application for everyone to use, so mod creators will have the some power available to them as our own sound department. To help with the transition, we also plan on releasing some useful tutorials to help you become familiar with this new software. For those with an eye for detail, you may have noticed a picture we shared across our social media channels this past weekend to tease you. Did you spot it? A long-awaited requested feature will be made possible with this FMOD update - the ability to roll down your truck windows! Look out for a more detailed blog post in a few days! TruckersMP Image Size Guide I find myself being consistently asked about what sizes are best for different banners, etc. So I thought that I'd put together an easy to use guide which contains the most commonly asked sizes for banners. All sizes are in pixels. This guide is open to contributions, if you have a suggestion, feel free to send me a message on discord, here. - Event Request Banner (1920x350) The Event Request banner is a commonly asked question. It's an important part to an Event Request page which is visible to any visitor of the events calendar. It's important to remember the fact that the image is slightly cropped, so logo and/or text placement is important. - VTC Page Banner (1920x350) The VTC Page Banner is a great way to display the identity of your VTC, including a lovely photo of your truck, maybe your name and slogan, yet it's again a commonly asked question with regards to sizing. It's important to remember the fact that the image is slightly cropped, so logo and/or text placement is important. - Forum Profile Banner (1920x200) One of the most common of the lot, the forum profile banner. The size of the banner element is 200px in height, however you can make your banner slightly bigger and fit it to size with the build in cropping tool. For example:- Suggestion Name: Labeling players on days they are members Suggestion Description: The idea is to give some kind of label to a player that is a member for less than 15 days (time period subject to discussion) to warn other people about a new driver in the area. This wouldn't change the report system, so If one of them is reported, the same rules would apply like any other player. The label could be on the name tag before the nickname like " new driver<Nickname>" or maybe a sticker on the truck (or something else concluded in the discussion). The time period should be such new drivers have the time to addapt but if they are just trollers would be quickly noticed. Any example images: None Why should it be added?: Lately I've been collecting information about the players I've reported and figured out the most of the events that leaded to a ban happened less than about 15 days after the day they become members, so this mistakes mostly likely happened because of their unexperience, so adding this kind of label, people around would be warned about an unexperienced driver nearby and be more careful that these players are more likely to make mistakes. Also I've noticed on the "Road to Simulation #3" post, it was stated all players would have a week to addapt to the new rules, but people that are new players (it's kinda new rules for them) don't have this kind of addapting time. Giving an example: yesterday the situation was, the player drove on the wrong way and rammed me on a highway, I would report him but I figured out he was member since a few hours ago, this was probably his/her first crash, and also It was in the UK. Using this label would let them addapt more easily.
